History of tea production

We are so used to drinking tea that we do not even think about how it all began. So habitual became tea in bags. Many even believe that a tea bag is a modern invention. In 2004 he turned 100 years old. The history of tea production, in particular a tea bag, is very fascinating.

Like many simply brilliant things, a tea bag was invented quite by accident. The father of the predecessor of the paper bag is Thomas Sullivan. The New York owner of a store selling tea and coffee, in order to raise sales, sent out samples of new products to his customers. The tea probes were packed in small silk bags. Most of those who received such tea did not understand how to unpack it and brew it in a traditional way. They acted simpler - they filled the bag with boiling water. Prepared in this way the drink turned out to taste no worse than ordinary tea. And the way of brewing is much simpler. From that day the history of tea production in bags began.

The modern look of a tea bag was acquired by Adolf Rambo. This inventor created not only the bag itself, but also designed special machines necessary for the packaging of tea. And the Dresden firm R. Seelig & Hille began distributing these machines. Mass production of tea bags began in 1929. In 1949, Rambold developed the same packing machine "Constanta Teepackmaschine". Very quickly manufacturers of tea bags refused to use as a material from too expensive silk. The main material for the production of bags was gauze. After a while it was replaced by a special paper made of manila hemp fibers.

To produce tea bags from more advanced filtered paper were only in the 1930s. At that time, scientists were able to produce paper that was thin enough to allow water to pass through. And at the same time this paper did not soak in boiling water. A new brewing technology very quickly began to enjoy a stunning success in America. After all, Americans brew tea not with steep boiling water, but with very hot water.

By the end of 1950, Teekanne patented a new form of tea bag. A bag consisting of two chambers, closing with a bracket made of metal. Thanks to this form, more water has got into the inside of the bag. Tea was brewed much faster.

In the Old World, a new tradition of tea drinking did not immediately come to life. Prudish Englishmen said that the paper bag with the label on the thread gives more flavor and smell than the garbage inside. And it was only in the 1960s that Europe accepted tea in sachets.

But even today there is an opinion that tea from bags is garbage, waste of the main production. Compare this type of tea with instant coffee. They say that for the speed you have to pay with taste. But experts say that tea, packaged in sachets, is simply smaller. That is why after cooling the drink gets a bitter taste.

But if you bought high-quality expensive tea, brewed it and drank it fresh, then it is in no way inferior to regular tea.

In Europe, the most widely distributed sachets are rectangular. But bags of a pyramidal form are also produced. In England, round pouches without cord were distributed. Such a bag is placed on the bottom of the cup. You can buy bags for brewing one cup, and for brewing in a kettle or coffee machine.

Even the most ordinary things were once invented, and the history of their invention and evolution is sometimes very fascinating.
Enjoy your tea!
