Indoor plant: senpolia, care

This article is for those who like to grow in their own apartment in the Umburian violets, known as houseplants: senpolia, caring for them requires a minimum of certain knowledge, which will be discussed below.

The condition of the plant depends on what, in what substrate it is grown. If it contains harmful compounds, if it is infected with pathogens, it is saline and simply too heavy, dense, this can cause not only the absence of flowering of senpolia, its poor growth, but even the death of the plant. A light, air-permeable substrate is most suitable for senposy. Ideal mixtures are based on peat. As additives to it it is possible to use perlite, vermiculite, moss sphagnum.

It is the water that is showered with the polish, is the main factor in caring for it. For flowering and successful growth, the quality of water is not less important than the quality of the substrate. For watering senpolia, it is preferable to use water that is cleaned with an activated carbon filter.

Lighting is a very important component. In nature, in the Umbarkian mountains of Africa, the violet grows under the canopy of the forest. Through the branches of trees penetrates a large amount of scattered light, protecting the delicate leaves of senpolia from searing sunlight. As an indoor plant, the city should be located in well-lit places, except for those where it is possible to get sunburn. In the case when the apartment opens to the south only, you should curtain them with a light light cloth, tracing paper, white paper. Then the light will come exactly in the amount that your violets need. Properly selected lighting is the key to the abundant flowering of the violets of violets.

A general rule that guides everyone who grows any houseplant: the diameter of the flower pot must be three times smaller than the diameter of the crown of the plant. To Senpolia this rule is also applicable. Do not place your flowers in pots "for growth", it is more expedient to make excess transshipment of the plant as it grows. It is very important that there is a drainage hole in the bottom of the pot, because stagnant water is detrimental to the roots.

The most acceptable humidity for violets is 50%, although at a lower humidity, violets can grow successfully. Their leaves will be more pubescent and dense, but the flowers are slightly smaller. Humidity can be increased by means of household humidifiers.
Proper care for violets means not only their content under favorable conditions, but also the proper nutrition of plants. "It is better to under- than over-", this is one of the basic rules for those who grow Senpolia, as well as any other plant indoor or outdoor. Violets do not need as much food as other beautiful flowers, fuchsia or pelargonium. Feeding the polish can be any fertilizer for indoor flowers, but it should be diluted 3-5 times less than indicated in the instructions. For senpolium, Kemira Lux, Pokon, etc. are suitable. It should be remembered that it is possible to fertilize the violet not earlier than in 2 months. after transplantation.

Special temperature conditions for senpolia are not needed, they are quite comfortable at the same ambient temperature as you. The ideal range is 18-24 degrees. If the temperature is lower, the violets grow somewhat more slowly, but with a longer flowering time. But when the temperature is about 30 degrees and above, you definitely need to reduce it. At high temperatures, the plant weakens, sometimes quite significantly. In summer, hot weather should be placed in a room with air conditioning.

At the transplant violets gratefully respond to the rapid growth and active bookmark buds. Ideally, they should be transplanted every 6-9 months. Transshipment of young plants can be done more often - in 3-4 months. Adults senpolii transplanted into the same or similar in size pot. Young plants that have not yet reached their maximum size, it is advisable to transplant a little more than the previous one, 2-3 cm. For young senpolias, pots of centimeter are needed on 3 wider than the previous ones.
