Indoor plants: solerelia

Soleilia is an ornamental plant that is a distant relative of the nettle. It was openly a seafarer, in honor of whose name this plant was named, in the nineteenth century. Its other name is Helsinki and contains only one genus of the plant. Occurs in the wild in Sardinia, Majorca and Corsica, places choose shady, wet, even rocky. The plant is perennial, creeping, has very tiny leaves, growing, it externally forms a green ball. There are also silvery and golden varieties of solerelle, which were artificially produced by flower growers. In height, they are very short, about five to seven centimeters.

As a decorative element it is placed in vases and pots, in weight and in standing on the floor containers. Since solerolia spreads on the ground, that is, it is a ground cover plant, it can be used to design the composition well. If you plant it in a common pot with another plant that is larger than it, then, after a while, the whole soil layer will be covered by solerolia. Do not put it next to low plants, at least, which are lower than it, because they can simply "strangle" it. Many believe that these room plants soleyrolya also neutralize harmful radiation, which comes from computers, televisions and other equipment. However, it is worth noting that this plant is sensitive to the environmental situation of the room in which it is located. It grows poorly in a gassy, smoky place, ie, where the ecological situation is unfavorable.

Care of the plant.

Lighting. Soleilia are plants that tolerate artificial light well. It is under such lighting that they can all year round, which makes them a rare and favorite plant for florists. Its plant does not lose its pleasant appearance from this. Although it is possible, of course, to put under natural and slightly diffused light, but avoiding the rays from the sun. In winter, this plant needs a lot of light - here it comes in handy its tolerant attitude to artificial light. As for the sides of the world, where it is worth growing these houseplants, then this soleryrolya is not very whimsical: it tolerates even the northern side well, unlike many other plants.

Temperature regime. As for the temperature regime, during the summer period, soleryrolya feels well at a warm temperature, but not hot, no more than 20-22C. In winter, you should transfer to a room with a temperature of at least 10-15C.

The soil. If to speak about the earth, then solerolalia prefers neutral or slightly acidic soil. Its composition can consist of turf ground with pebbles of small size, pebbles can be replaced by medium-grained sand. It also grows well in hydroponics and on the substrate of the ion exchanger.

Watering. On watering it is necessary to pay special attention. Any specific advice on this does not exist. The frequency and volume of irrigation must be adjusted individually, should be guided by the moisture of the earth coma, containing solerolium: it should be moderately moist. If the land is dried, the plant will instantly die. However, too much water should not be allowed. Therefore, you should not allow any drying or accumulation of water in the pan. Water the plant from below, at the base. In the warm season, the plant would be well sprayed, and it is desirable to do this often. Water should be at room temperature, stand-by. In a period when the plant is actively growing, it should be fed. The frequency of fertilizing, approximately, once every three weeks. If we feed solerolium with ready fertilizers for flowers, then it will please the abundant, beautiful, lush greenery.

Transfer. Plant transplantation soleryrolya in principle do not require. This can be done if the plant has little space in the pot and can be transplanted into a larger container.

Reproduction. With the multiplication of solerelia, even the one who has just started to be interested in flowers will cope. It is necessary to separate small lumps of earth, several pieces containing stems of a mother plant, and place them on a moistened substrate in a new container. The entire surface of this container will be filled with young green leaves of solery salt in a short time.
