Is it harmful to travel during pregnancy?

Pregnancy is one of the most important stages in a woman's life. Everyone knows that it is necessary for a favorable course of pregnancy - vitamins, fresh air, a full rest, positive emotions. Is it possible to enjoy these nine months if you do not have the opportunity to relax outside the home or outside the city, even being surrounded by the care of family and friends? Is it dangerous and not harmful to travel during pregnancy? Today, pregnancy in the normal course of it is not a ban on proper rest and travel. You just have to remember your situation and observe the safety rules.

There are two main conditions under which you can travel while carrying a child.

For each woman, of course, individual recommendations - no one knows better than your gynecologist, how pregnancy is going on, and therefore you definitely need his advice, and not just the general safety rules for traveling for a pregnant woman. In the first and third trimesters, it is not recommended to go far from home.

So, what to do when planning a trip?

More pleasant emotions and less expended nerves are the main principle for a traveling pregnant woman.

Choice of country.

No extreme in the form of kayaks, tents, long hikes and mountaineering, no third world countries like Africa, Asia, South America! Do not risk and believe what is written in the handouts - it is much more reliable to interview friends and acquaintances who have recently returned from vacation.

Choosing a hotel.

You should know and remember that the "star" status of hotels in Russia and abroad is significantly different. If we have "two stars" marked with tattered sheets, cockroaches in the room and a shared toilet, in Europe "two stars" is at least a clean room, at least without a TV, a bar in the room and a telephone. Abroad for the same money, which are required by boarding houses, hotels and holiday homes in Russia, you can relax with much more comfort.

Visiting the sights.

Attend attractions during pregnancy is not recommended. The whole day spent on your feet will not affect your well-being. The best option - a vacation at sea. Bathing, walking on the beach, air baths - this is what you need. You can even go on a good excursion, but, in no case, not forgetting about a full sleep, food and rest.

The choice of the season for travel.

The period from the first half of July to the second half of August is the most sultry, and it is better to spend this time in the usual climate. Overheating of the body you are now undesirable even in the best resort.

Force majeure circumstances.

You should also be prepared for force majeure - on a trip you must have with you all the tests and results of studies for the entire period of pregnancy, the surname and coordinates of your gynecologist, if you have any serious illnesses - grab the extracts.

Be sure to have the necessary stock of medication with you. Foreign pharmacies are unlikely to help you - firstly, many drugs come out under different names, and, secondly, many medicines can not really be bought without a doctor's prescription.

There are many valid arguments for independently finding an insurance company that will sell you a policy just in your case. In addition, many of these companies specialize in pregnancy insurance. Virtually no European state will issue you a visa without insurance. And to hope for travel agencies, which often offer not the most expensive types of insurance in traditional packages, is silly - often pregnancy is not an insurance event. Naturally, doctors abroad are unlikely to refuse from you, but for services you will have to pay the amount for which you could several times give birth in the most expensive clinics in Russia.

Type of transport.

Safely arrive at the place of rest - the most difficult and no less important. The mode of transport does not matter much, unless it is an "Oka" stuffed with five passengers, or an old rattling bus. Do not skimp on tickets - you need more comfort on the road than ever. If you are traveling on a train, then certainly in the compartment, and in the car for you should be enough space.

On airplanes should talk separately. Since many people are simply afraid to fly in airplanes, the appearance of a pregnant woman in this form of transport often causes inadequate reaction and accusations even in dislike and cruelty to the unborn baby. Even some airlines do not sell tickets to women, with pregnancy in a period of seven months. However, there are no contraindications to flights for pregnant women. When you are pregnant on an airplane, traveling is not harmful. Flight can not cause miscarriage. But nevertheless it is necessary to be careful when flying.

During the flight, our body loses a lot of fluid, so every hour must be sure to drink half a liter of liquid (of course, not alcohol). As a consequence, there will be frequent urge to urinate. Do not worry and stand in line - go to the business class lounge.

Do not share towels for your own safety - take disposable paper napkins with you. Put on an eight-layer gauze bandage. The influx of fresh air into the aircraft is a rarity, and any "sneeze", even at the opposite end of the cabin, presents a potential danger of infection for you. In addition, it is much easier to avoid strikes from foreign elbows in the gauze bandage - it was so customary that our compatriots in the mask are considered a walking infection, which should not be approached better.

For the flight, wear warm and spacious clothes, take a small pillow to put under your back, and a special "collar" in order to avoid pain in the neck. And, of course, do not forget about seat belts - you should fasten the belt under your belly, and not on top of it.

Remember - the journey should bring you only pleasant emotions. You have the absolute right to change the number in case it does not suit you. And do not hesitate to ask for the best place in the transport or pass without waiting in line - in your position it is forgivable. Have a nice rest!
