Preparations for removal of sulfuric plugs

Cure for ear plugs
The connection of the secretions of the sebaceous and sulfuric glands and the desquamated epidermis in the auricle is otic sulfur. This protective secretion serves to clear the ear canal in people's ears from infections, dead cells and foreign masses. It helps to moisten the passage and protect both from external influences of the environment and from internal biological causes.

There are several effective ways to get rid of sulfuric plugs. We, in this article, want to talk about what medicines exist for the removal of sulfur plugs. But before we talk about all the advantages of these drugs, we will consider what the ear sulfur is.

Sulfuric plugs: removal of the house

The biological composition of sulfur directly determines its physical properties and physiological functions, the main of which is the natural lubrication of the ear canal. This is due to the fact that it includes cholesterol, aliphatic acids and lipids that do not dissolve in water, which helps to moisten the epithelium of the ear passage and membrane, more commonly known as the tympanic membrane. Presence in the sulfur of fatty acids, antibacterial agents - lysozyme, enzymes, immunoglobulins and acid reaction (with a pH-balance of 4-6) provides antifungal activity and prevents the appearance of bacteria.

Usually, when performing movements of the temporomandibular joint, the auditory passage itself is cleared of earwax. But, unfortunately, this process of purification is difficult in some conditions, and sulfur accumulates in the auricle, which later turns into a sulfur plug.

The main reason for the appearance of sulfur plugs can be called incorrect care of the hygiene of the cavity of the auricle. This applies, first of all, to the use of cotton buds (matches, pins) as a preventive measure, but with the opposite effect. To remove earwax should only around the entrance to the ear canal, not ramming the sulfur even deeper into the eardrum.

Otherwise, the natural cleansing action of the passage can be disturbed, in which the removal of sulfur from the auricle can occur during chewing processes without forming a sulfur plug. The result of an inaccurate toilet of the ear can cause irritation and trauma to the epidermis of the ear canal.

Often, children suffer from a damage to the tympanic membrane with the use of cotton buds because of insufficient attention of parents to the procedure and activity of children. It is believed that about seventy percent of cases of membrane damage in children are due to improper care of the auricles using cotton swabs.

Sulfur plugs are formed due to many other reasons: external influences (dusty rooms), prolonged use of headphones and hearing aids, abundance of hair in the auricle, difficulty in extracting sulfur due to anatomical features, clogging of the ear canal and swelling after interaction with water , sticking and excess weight of earwax in the passage. When receiving the necessary information and clinical examinations, the diagnosis is "sulfur plug". The sulfur plug can be asymptomatic and do not disturb the patient if it does not block the ear passage, until a small amount of water enters the ear shell and the sulfur begins to swell. Then the symptoms begin to actively manifest themselves - there is a noise in the ear, a feeling of stuffiness, hearing worsens, there is a pain in the auditory canal. But if the sulfur plug begins to act on pressure on the membrane, the symptoms intensify, and the person begins to feel nauseated, dizzy, headaches, coughing and malfunctioning in the heart. In this case, the question arises of removing the sulfur plugs.

The pharmaceutical market can please with the appearance of cerumenolitic agents, which offer a completely new approach to therapy. It involves dissolving the sulfur plug in the ear passage, while other techniques only allow the sulfur to be softened or removed. Among these preparations for the removal of sulfur plugs, two drugs have proven themselves: A-Cerumen and Remo-Wax.

Drops A-Cerumen (Nycomed) allow you to cope with a sulfur plug. In the composition of this preparation the components of surfactants (amphoteric, anionic and nonionic surfactants), which allow not to increase the surface tension. The drug, getting inside sulfuric cork, dissolves it, excluding swelling.

Convenient application of the drug A-Cerumene is that it is already dosed - for burying in both ear canals, one bottle is calculated - half a bottle per ear. After instillation it is necessary to wait a couple of minutes and rinse off the residual sulfur plug with a special physiological solution.

The drops are safe and do not cause irritation to the mucosa - this is proved by the wide application of the drug in Russia and Europe. It can be used for children older than two and a half years. Contraindications include hypersensitivity, membrane perforation, otitis media. To avoid irritation, it is not recommended to insert the bottle too deep into the ear canal.

Drops from ear plugs

The effectiveness of the drug for the removal of ear plugs A-Cerumena checked as a result of a study by the Russian State Medical University, Department of Children's Otorhinolaryngology. For the study, sixty children between the ages of three and fourteen years with sulfur plugs underwent a survey. One part of the children buried the drug A-Cerumen twice a day for five days, the second half at the same time and with the same periodicity used oil droplets. As a result of the study, the effectiveness of A-Cerumen was confirmed with respect to traditional means. Thus, for the prevention and elimination of sulfuric plugs, it is recommended to use a new and effective A-Cerumene preparation.

Another drug that effectively removes sulfur fuses from the Finnish manufacturer Orion PHARMA is Remo-Vax. Produced on the basis of allantoin, Remo-Vax serves to quickly and efficiently dissolve sulfur plugs, maintain the purity of the hearing aid and the channel. The drug can be used for prophylactic purposes for people who have excessive sulfur formation. Using Remo-Vax 2-4 times a month, you can completely clear the auditory passage from sulfur and prevent the formation of sulfur plugs in the future.

This drug does not contain antibiotics and aggressive agents, which allows it to be used by patients of almost any age, and even having allergic and skin diseases.
