Naphthalan oil is a rather thick liquid of brown or black-brown color, which has some specific smell of oil. Naftalan has a high specific gravity, acid reaction and high viscosity. Naphthenic hydrocarbons are the active principle of naphthalan and the basis of many of the biologically active substances. Due to its properties, the treatment of naftalan diseases has become very popular.

The naphthalan deposit is the city of Naftalan with the same name, located in Azerbaijan. The city is located at a distance of 50 km to the south-east from the ancient city of Ganja and 320 km from the capital of the country - Baku.

The case went more than perfectly, ointments with success began to enjoy popularity and abroad, thanks to the correct advertising that promoted sales.

Properties of naphthalan

Naftalan oil is rich in unique healing properties, and it has no analogues in the whole world. Oil is capable of having the most diverse therapeutic effect on the human body. It has stimulating, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, vasodilating properties, it promotes the increase and activity of metabolism, accelerates the healing of wounds on the skin, stimulates the adrenal cortex to produce hormones, has an excellent antibacterial and excellent sunscreen effect. Naftalan leads to better ventilation of the lungs, also in patients undergoing treatment, the process increases the red blood cells and hemoglobin in the blood, in addition, it helps the blood to a slower clotting.

Degree of toxicity of naphthalan

Indeed, naphthalene, due to the presence of aromatic hydrocarbons, resins and naphthenic acids in its composition, has some degree of toxicity. It is for this reason that during the treatment of naftalan diseases it is necessary to take into account whether the patient has liver pathology, as well as the area of ​​application of the product, the time of exposure to the body and the number of procedures required.

Naftalan is applied to the skin area of ​​a person, which does not exceed 15-20% of the entire skin. In this case, the time of exposure to the body should not exceed 20 or 30 minutes, and usually about 11-15 procedures, no more, which are carried out daily, are prescribed.

It also works great for pink lichen, torpid ulcers, hives, wounds, bedsores and skin itching.

He treats and neurological diseases. This is the intercostal neuralgia; neuritis of the tibia, elbow, femoral, radial and facial nerves; neuralgia of the sciatic, trigeminal and occipital nerves; shoulder plexitis; cervico-brachial and lumbosacral radiculitis.

Naftalan is usually used in the known form of naphthalan baths, different baths - can be chamber, general or sedentary. At the same time, the bath temperature of naphthalan is 37 - 38 ° C, and the duration of taking one such bath is only 8 - 10 minutes.

Naphthalan lubrication may also be prescribed, which is usually given in the form of naphthalan local and general lubrication.

For lubrication, natural or native naphthalene is used, and desmised naphthalane, previously purified from various resinous compounds, is also used. For baths take only native naftalan. Also purified naphthalan is widely used for inhalation, lubricating the mucous membranes of the nose, gums and throat, as tampons and for enemas.
