Use of essential oil of basil in cosmetology and medicine

Basil is a one-year herbaceous plant, belonging to the family of the Veins. The plant is especially common in South America, Iraq and China, cultivating it in the Caucasus and Central Asia. Since ancient times, basil was widely used in the cooking of Caucasian people (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia). Cooks used this plant as a spicy seasoning for various dishes of meat, salads, cheese.

Basilic essential oil is obtained from the flowering tops of the plant. Basil oil contains cineole, camphor, methylhavicol, cariophilene and linalool.

Depending on the type of basil essential oil acquires a certain taste. For example, sweet basil oil has a bitter bitter taste with woody and spicy notes, exotic basil has a sweetish-herbaceous taste with notes of camphor and anise.

Due to the variety of species of basil (more than 200), the essential oil obtained from this plant is unique. There are 5 main types of basil:

  1. Basil sweet - the most common type of basil in aromatherapy and the safest.
  2. Basil exotic - oil obtained from this species has anti-spasm, antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects.
  3. Methyl cinnamate basil.
  4. Methyl-eugenol basil.
  5. Basil eugenolny.

It is thanks to the beneficial properties of the sweet and exotic basil that the use of essential oil of basil in cosmetology and medicine became widespread. Therefore, the point in this article will be about the beneficial properties of these types of basil oil.

Basil oil has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, analgesic and expectorant action. Oil is an excellent assistant for fatigue, overwork, nervous breakdowns. This essential oil helps to concentrate attention, cheer up, eliminate insomnia, remove anxiety and nervous tension. Basil oil helps to effectively restore health and strength after a serious illness or complicated operation.

Cosmetology also uses the beneficial properties of basil oil. Essential oil effectively smoothes wrinkles, rejuvenates and refreshes the skin. Oil helps well when removing warts, boils, eczema, acne, and also removes inflammation. Basil oil is an effective tool for insect bites. Apply a drop of basil oil to the bite site every time you feel itching.

Basil oil combines well with muscatine sage, bergamot, ginger, geranium, lime, mandarin, mint, oak moss, and verbena.

The use of basil oil is not recommended for pregnancy and sensitive skin. Store the oil for more than five years, but under a tightly screwed lid.
