Watering of indoor plants

To have healthy, well-growing and chicly flowering indoor plants at home, they need proper care, especially watering. But excessive love of plants usually leads to excessive watering or even plant death.

It should be remembered that watering a houseplant should be balanced, a little water and not a little, just as much as is required for a particular plant species. Very common error among beginners lovers of indoor plants is to water them with water from a tap. Forgetting that water, saturated with chlorine, is very detrimental to the further growth of the plant. Such water does not act immediately on the flower, but eventually it becomes noticeable: the plant ceases to grow, loses a saturated color, and rapidly withers. Be sure to water for irrigation to defend in an open container. The water temperature should be room or slightly higher from 30 ° to 34 ° C. Too cool water plant should not be watered, plants can have a shock and can quickly lose buds, flowers. An exception with the azalea flower, to cause a rapid flowering, it is watered with cold water.

Watering house plants should be correct. Watering the house plants follows from the watering can, at the edge of the pot, so that water does not get on the plant itself, because the drops left on the leaves of the plant can cause a sunburn. Many indoor plants do not tolerate the appearance of water on the leaves, they immediately turn black, they need to be removed. These include plants with velvety sheet texture. You should try not to get water on the bulbs and flower sockets - this also contributes to the death of plants. You can not water all the house flowers equally. We need to know their water needs. Cacti, for example, do not need abundant watering, because they came to us from the arid climate. Watering plants in a day or two or three times a week is not necessary, given their characteristics. After the appearance of a new plant in the house, you need to know what moisture it is suitable to avoid mistakes in the process of its growth. A few plants that love to always be in wet earth. Often this leads to rotting of the roots, in particular in the winter. The most harmful for a houseplant is a low air temperature with a strong soil moisture. It is also important to know the period of rest of the plant and its active period, basically they coincide with the period of winter and summer, but the Decembrist flower is an exception, in the winter it blossoms, and in the spring it rests. When the plant rests, you need to shorten the watering, but do not stop at all. The soil can be checked for moisture in this way: knock on the pot wall, if the sound is deaf, then the soil is wet, if the sound is sonorous, then watering is needed.

The watering of the houseplant should be abundant, so that the earth dries not only on the surface, but that the water reaches the bottom of the pot. Let the excess liquid come out on the pallet, than the roots will be dry. In winter, indoor plants are watered in the morning, and in the summer - in the evening. If direct sunlight falls on the plant, irrigation is not recommended, spots from sunburn on the leaves may appear, and the soil will become a crust and will not let air into the roots of the plant. To prevent this from happening, the land should be loosened before watering.

More general rules for watering plants include:

- on cold and cloudy days, watering should be limited, than in solar ones;

- The plant requires more moisture with dry, warm air in the room than with wet and cold;

- Friable and light soil should be watered more often than dense and heavy;

- plants recently transplanted, the roots of which do not have time to penetrate all the soil, should not be filled with moisture, or the ground near the walls of the pot may rot and the plant will become ill. What kind of water is suitable for watering indoor plants? Huge importance for the correct existence of the root system of the plant oxygen. In watering water, it is also present. Most people are afraid to pour boiled water, thinking that there is no oxygen in it. It is not right. Dissolved oxygen in such small amounts and in boiled and unboiled water that the existence of roots is almost impossible. In water, oxygen is contained in a small fraction, it is the right volume for the life of the plant.

If the water is hard, then the norm of mineral salts is exceeded. It is not suitable for watering domestic plants. Rigid water should be boiled. You can not water with boiling water, of course.

Watering plants also depends on the volume of the container in which the plant is planted. Plants in small or medium-sized pots are watered more often than plant groups in boxes or large pots.

Here are also useful tips for watering indoor plants:

- drain the water in the pan after watering should be after one or two hours. Leave the water only in the period of active growth, flowering or fruiting;

- if the plant needs one-time watering, then it is better to produce it in the evening, also spray the plant, while covering the ground;

- Tropical plants need spraying of leaves with a spray gun;

- If the plant has discarded the leaves, water should be seldom, while preventing a drought;

- Tap water for at least 24 hours so that chlorine evaporates.

If the plant has not been watered for a long time, it has separated the roots from the ground, and the soil from the pot, the liquid watering along the walls and flowing without moistening the roots and the ground, in such a situation it will be best to put the plant for a short time in some vessel with water.

If a flowerpot is added with zikornuyu thick, wood shavings or river sand, then the growth of seeds will be strengthened, and the moisture in the soil will remain. Freshness to potted plants can give a little sugared water. And distilled water for watering plants is not suitable. In such water there are no harmful, and useful mineral salts.

Knowing and using in practice all these rules is not difficult, because they will help prolong the life of your favorite plants, most importantly, do not forget, in time to follow them.
