What is vegetarianism?

To ensure that the human body develops normally and remains healthy, a large number of different substances are needed. We get them from food - fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins. But for some reason many people deliberately refuse to use many groups of products and without these products a person's life, one might think, is practically impossible. Why do people who have adopted a vegetarian lifestyle refuse intentionally from a tasty, juicy, beloved meat and in general what is vegetarianism? We will try to answer these and other questions in this article.

The first myth. The newfangled invention is vegetarianism.
In fact, this is practically not the case. More than six thousand years ago in Ancient Egypt the priestesses considered unclean meat products and forbade not only meat to eat, but even to carcasses of dead animals it was forbidden to touch. Moreover, many famous and significant personalities of antiquity, such as Plato, Pythagoras, Hippocrates, Socrates, Seneca, Ovid, adhered to a vegetarian type of food.

All these people believed that vegetarianism opens the way to the enlightenment of the mind and raises it to the highest level of spirituality. Since that time thousands of years have passed and modern people become vegetarians for various reasons - pity for animals, ecological awareness, medical indications or dislike for meat.

The second myth : vegetarianism is harmful to health.
Until now it has not been scientifically proven that vegetarianism can negatively affect human health. Although, of course, improper or poor nutrition of plant products can lead to general weakness or weight loss. Like any other diet, vegetarian food should be carefully balanced, it is mandatory to include from soy products, sufficient for the full functioning of the human body of carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

There is such a group of vegetarians, "not strict", including dairy products and milk, fish and eggs in their diet. If you suddenly decide to move into a society of "especially strict" vegetarians, you need to do this gradually. To begin with, try to abandon the meat and replace it with herbal products, which include a lot of protein. Further, when you get used to such a diet, try dairy products and replace milk with products from soy milk. Also, strike off seafood and fish from your new diet. Proved, but the opposite, a vegetarian way of eating reduces the risk of vascular and cardiac disease and best affects longevity.

Myth three : Vegetarians are not capable of giving birth to a child, male.
No confirmation found one time popular diets that seem to help conceive a child to a woman of a certain sex. Such diets are ridiculous and in no way can affect the conception of the baby. The only moment that the expectant mother should remember is that she does not eat meat - she is obliged to consume enough protein for food, as this product is vital for the baby and from it the very intrauterine development depends.

Myth number four : you can lose weight very much if you stop eating meat.
Who are overweight serious problems, only those who can lose weight from a vegetarian diet. A woman with a little overweight or with a normal weight, will come to the weight that is optimal for her physique. Also, the consumption of large amounts of fruits and vegetables for food will only affect the cleansing of the intestines, which will also have a positive effect on the general state of the digestive system and on weight. And yet, the last, at first it will be better if you eat all the fruits and waxes thermally processed - boiled, stewed or baked - so to a new vegetarian diet will be, it will be easier to adapt, to your stomach.
