Care of house flowers: violets

Do you have a window sill in the kitchen and nothing grows on it? You do not really like flowers, because they do not blossom and perish? We offer a simple advice - dilute violets! This is unpretentious, and perhaps "not fashionable" plants, but how many different shapes and colors! So, caring for the room flowers: violets - the topic of the conversation for today.

Violets can bloom almost a year, and for this they require only regular watering and a little bit of humidity (that's why they are better placed in the kitchen!). Further simple tips for care of violets are collected.

Temperature conditions

The most suitable day temperature for flowering violets, if you want them to bloom and delight you longer, is 20 - 24 ° C. If the temperature is stable 20 ° C - the flowers will be large and will last a long time. For young plants, the optimal temperature is slightly higher: 23 - 24 ° C. Violets are quite hardy plants, they can withstand a decrease in temperature in winter to 10 - 5 ° C. In this case, they slow down their growth. In summer, when the temperature rises to 30 ° C or higher, the violets stop blooming.

In the heat, do not overload violets with flowers (they still work out ugly). It is necessary to cut off the peduncles, water the plant in the evening, increase the humidity of the room. In the evening, you can also spray leaves from the pulverizer. For violets, sudden changes in temperature are very harmful. For the natural development of violets, a difference of at most 2-3 ° C between day and night is necessary.

Lighting

The homeland of violets is the forest of the jungle. There they do not get directly sunlight, but a lot of scattered rays. Violets should be protected from direct sunlight. It is better not to grow them on southern windows.

With excessive light, the leaves of the violet will bend downward, they will lighten and turn yellow, then they will turn yellowish brown at all. Young leaves are deformed, short stems develop, they hide in leaves, flowers fade, quickly fade. Burns appear on the leaves (brown spots).

With a lack of light, the cuttings become longer, the leaves stretch upward, they lose their shine, they become thinner, the specks disappear in the variegated violets. The plants themselves stop blooming.
To ensure that the bushes are not deformed and develop evenly, the pots need to be rotated from time to time - this is an important element of caring for these room colors. Violets need to be cleaned regularly from dust with a soft brush and even sometimes washed. Violets with dark green leaves require more illumination than violets with light wavy leaves.

Humidity

Violets originate from the equatorial regions of Africa, where they grow near the water. Humidity in those areas reaches 60-70%. In these conditions, the flowers become larger, brighter, and bloom longer.
In apartments humidity rarely reaches 30-40%, and in the heating season even less. Violets are often placed in the kitchen, where the temperature and humid background usually exceeds the average for the apartment. You can put pots with violets in pallets with expanded clay or sphagnum, filled with 2/3 water.

You can raise the humidity through spraying, but we must remember that fluffy leaves of violets do not like when they get water droplets - this can lead to decay. Therefore, it is better to create a moist mist around the plant. To do this, well fit bottles from the spray - they create smaller drops than conventional spray plants.

To increase the humidity around the petiole petioles of young bushes, it is possible to create doves, since without high humidity the earth will dry up too quickly, which harms the weak young roots. For the guy is suitable polyethylene, tin, plastic bottle or other transparent containers. It is important to monitor the absence of drops inside the daddy, when they appear, the youngster needs to be ventilated.

When the air is too dry, the tips of the leaves twist and turn yellow, the flowers wither without experiencing the early stage of development. If the humidity is too high, fungal diseases can occur in the rosettes and roots of plants, due to the fact that the necessary process of evaporation from the leaves stops, especially if there is no fresh air intake. Once a month, the leaves of violets can be washed under a stream of warm water, removing them from dust with a brush or a soft brush. After bathing the plant must be dried, protecting from a draft and in no case exposing to the open sun.

Fertilizer

It is better to use complex fertilizer. The dose indicated on the package for violets should be reduced by half. Do not exceed the dose in any case. It is necessary to adhere to the recommended seasonal reduction in dosage in 2-3 times in the winter. If the soil is very dry, it is best to water the plant 2 hours before adding fertilizer. Top dressing is usually recommended to be poured on top, and not in the saucer-pan.

Watering

To water violets preferably regularly, suitable for this water, without drying the soil, but not leading to stagnation of water. Water should not fall into the growth point (center) of the plant. Decay of the growth point can lead to decay of the whole bush. Especially this applies to young violets. Adult violets should be watered when the top layer of soil dries. Young violets are usually watered a little more often.

You should water the violets regularly at the same time (taking into account the beginning of the light day and the season). In the spring and summer, violets should be watered in the morning, and in the autumn-winter period - in the afternoon. The irrigation norm should be selected individually. There are no general recommendations. Water should be water, spaced for 2-3 days in an open bowl for weathering chlorine. The temperature of water is better to choose a room or a little higher.

There are various methods of watering: the most recommended to water from above, but you should water a thin trickle on the edge of the pot. It is necessary to watch, that water did not get to a point of growth and on young leaves. Watering is stopped when the water has flowed out in the saucer.
Watering from the bottom is easier, but we must remember that you need to pour as much water as the soil can absorb. Excess water is poured from the saucer in half an hour.

The wick watering of indoor flowers is the carrying through a hole in a pot of a cloth scrap, which with its other end is lowered into a container of water on which a pot of plant is placed. In this case, the pot should not touch the surface of the water. Water rises up due to the capillary effect.

With excessive watering, soil fermentation is possible. In this case, watery spots may appear on the leaves, the leaves themselves may fall, the roots become dark and die of lack of oxygen. There is a need for special care for indoor flowers - violets are best treated with a weak solution of potassium permanganate or replaced by soil.

With insufficient watering, the soil dries up, lags behind the edges of the pot. Such a violet should be placed in a container of water, until the soil is saturated with moisture. When watering with too hard water on the surface of the soil, a white crust of salts may form. In this case, the top layer of the soil should be replaced.

If the advice seems too complicated for you, do not despair. You do not have to do everything! The main thing is to fulfill the basic requirements and look attentively to the plants. In the end, my violets are growing - that means you can!
