Care and care for the hair needs from the first days of the baby's life.

Lysenky or shaggy?

The hair of the child is formed even when it is in the abdomen of the mother. This occurs around the twentieth week of pregnancy. By the time of birth most babies grow fluff, usually of light color. But there are also such children, whom nature endowed with magnificent hair. Babies born with a small fluff on their heads are popularly called "bald".

(Not to be confused with a really bald head - the case when the bald spot is shining, then the child needs to be shown to the doctor!) Other children may have a fairly large amount of hair that sticks into the eyes or descends on the neck.

My head without tears

The first hairs of the baby require special care. Remember that the means for washing hair (shampoos, foams) should be designed specifically for children of the first year of life. They must pass preliminary clinical trials to confirm their safety. In addition, they contain a minimum amount of alkali, which allows them to carefully take care of the tender scalp of the baby. In the first months of a baby's life, wash your head no more than twice a week.

Despite the fact that most shampoos produced by domestic and foreign companies are produced with a note "without tears," still try to ensure that when washing your head soapy liquid does not get into the eyes of the child. If this happens, you will not have to pinch your eyes, but you must always rinse them with warm water!

When you apply shampoo, it is better to squeeze a little of the contents from the vial and mix it with a little warm water - then it will not seem too cold to your baby.

In any case, you can not use for children of the first year of life all sorts of rinses and conditioners. They contain substances dangerous to the skin of the baby's head. To wash with special children's means "3 in 1" is allowed no earlier than from three years. It is better to consult natural rinse-aid - use herbs! If the hair of your crumbs is fragile, dry, fluffy, then the best remedy will be a rinse aid from the chamomile broth. But for thick hair, which is difficult to comb and which are often confused, a decoction of a string will work well. However, too it is not necessary to take a great interest in herbs - as practice shows, they all more often cause in children allergic reactions.

Wipe and Dry

The skin of a child on the head is five times thinner than that of an adult, so the basic rule of drying the baby's hair is: do not rub! Otherwise, you can damage not only the hair bulb, but also the skin. Therefore, after bathing, "fleece" hair blot with a towel or a diaper. More thick strands can be slightly dried with a hair dryer. During the first month of life, every time after bathing, put a cap on your head. In the following months the cap is required only for toddlers with thick mop hair. The rest of the infants wear a cap for an hour after bathing is only necessary if the room is cold.

Match the crumb with the comb

In the first weeks of your baby's life, buy for him a special children's hair brush with soft bristles. "Pushkin" hair must be combed as necessary. Take care that there are no crumbs of food or dirt left in the hairs of the crumbs - they just need to be combed. If the child has thick hair, then they require more frequent combing so that they do not get confused and look beautiful.

Comb the hair correctly: Brush right to left, left to right, against growth, and in the end - in the direction of hair growth. Change the parting of the baby constantly so that the hair grows evenly. Soon the youngster will seize the process so that he will try to comb his hair on his own.

We treat a crust

If you notice a yellowish dense crust on the baby's head, do not panic. This phenomenon is quite normal and natural. A crust on the head (or, in scientific terms, gneiss) occurs in almost all babies. This is the result of the work of the sebaceous and sweat glands. To get rid of her child, an hour before bathing, treat the baby's scalp with sterilized vegetable oil. During this period, the skin will be well soaked, and during the bathing the crust will begin to retreat. Cut out the crust with a special children's comb-brush with soft bristles.

If the first time was not able to remove the crust, then repeat this procedure every time before bathing until the head skin of the baby is completely cleansed.

After a while, the crust may reappear. And this is also normal. Do everything according to the above scheme and with the re-appearance of the gneiss. But if there are no crusts on the baby's head, no "preventive" procedures should be carried out. A crust may not appear, and if you start scratching your skin, you can damage the bulbs, which can lead to a deterioration in hair growth.

Rules of hair growth

The growth of hair is affected by proper nutrition and supply of the child's body with vitamins and minerals. In the first year of the baby's life, breast milk provides good hair growth. It contains all the substances necessary for this process. As for food, it must necessarily contain proteins, fats and carbohydrates, which also have a beneficial effect on the growth of curls.

But the complex use of vitamins and minerals should have been taken care of by mother during pregnancy. Often, women in the position of hair fall out. This is a signal that the body lacks certain vitamins. They urgently need to be filled. Often, vitamins and minerals are prescribed for future mothers as prevention. All this is the basis for a good growth and beauty of your future baby's hair. The process, the reverse of growth, is the wiping of the hair. It is also natural
and it happens to many babies. When the baby starts actively twisting his head in the crib, the hair on the back of the head can be wiped off. Do not be afraid of it. It is not necessary to touch such a "bald head", by the year it will gradually disappear itself.

However, if you see that the bald patch begins to increase, you must always turn to the observing baby doctor-pediatrician - this may be a sign of rickets.

Cut or not to cut?

Do I have to shave the baby's head in one year? This topic is quite relevant today. Pediatricians say: do it at your discretion, dear parents. There are no medical indications or, on the contrary, there are no contraindications in this matter. Undoubtedly, that after shaving hair can grow more evenly, but their number is not seriously affected, since it is already laid in a person at the genetic level.

Cut or not to cut babies during the first year of life - also deal with parents. If the child's hair is long enough, then they can be slightly shortened so that the baby is not hot. And if you already want to let the girl spit, then you can do without scissors. Another thing is bangs: you need to cut it both for boys and girls, and do it regularly. A long fringe can cause strabismus in the baby or lead to poor eyesight. If the girl's hair is long, and you decided to let them go, you can buy different hairpins, rubber bands, bows (choose accessories designed for the smallest). Use them both in everyday life and on holidays. Long hair can be braided into a pair of plaits. Be sure to take off the hair clips while sleeping.
