Factors that affect teething
Doctors believe that at the time of the appearance of teeth, many factors affect the mother to take into account in order not to panic.
- Heredity and genetic predisposition. Ask the older generation about when they had their first teeth. This can tell you at what age to wait the same for your baby.
- Mom's nutrition during pregnancy. If a woman is nutritionally balanced and received a sufficient amount of vitamins and nutrients, the development of teeth of her baby will come much earlier.
- There is one more opinion: the hotter the climate, the sooner the teeth will appear. However, this theory has no scientific justification.
Symptoms of teething
Doctors have developed a special scheme, by which you can find out which teeth will appear first. The photo below shows when to wait for the eruption and at what age the milk teeth will be replaced by permanent teeth.
In some children, they can appear one at a time, and in others - at once in whole groups. This is completely normal. Worry is only if the child has not had a single incisor before the age of one. This may be a sign of serious diseases, including rickets.
To find out that the teeth are about to crawl, starting from the age of six months, check the baby's mouth to see the symptoms in time and make it easier for the baby to live in this critical period.
- Gums may be slightly swollen and reddened due to intensive blood supply.
- For a week or two before the first tooth appears, the baby can begin to whimper, bite the objects around him (most often his own crib) and rub his mouth intensively.
- Increased secretion of saliva or runny nose. The latter does not require medical treatment. It will only be necessary to wipe the baby's nose and release it from the accumulated mucus.
- The child may start refusing to eat. Do not try to feed him by force, better give more liquid food.
- As soon as the tooth appears, all negative symptoms will disappear. But do not forcibly open the baby's mouth and look for the tooth with your hands. So you can bring the infection. Try to consider the gums when the baby yawns, smiles or eats.
- Sometimes diarrhea may occur, due to the fact that the baby pulls everything in the mouth, and the mother gives him more fluid. As a rule, it lasts no more than two days.
- Temperature is also a very common symptom of teething. If it does not rise above 38 degrees, beating the alarm is not worth it. But if this indicator is higher, moreover, and accompanied by diarrhea, it is better to consult a doctor to rule out the possibility of intestinal infection.
A few tips for moms
During this period, the baby is very afflicted, so often take his hands and regret. Be sure to buy special plastic or rubber teethers for the teeth, so that the baby can chew them and make the process easier. Some people are helped by a cold metal spoon. Just do not lick it before giving it to a child, as an adult's saliva can lead to infection.
