Costume history, wedding dress in Russia

The theme of our today's article is "The History of Costume, a Wedding Dress in Russia".

Wedding ... What do you associate this word with? The white dress of the bride is the thought that probably appears at every first ... Yes, today it is a tradition, however in the Middle Ages in France the brides preferred white claret because they thought that this color will make husbands go crazy from now on passion and love for them. Or, for example, if a girl wore a purple or purple dress - it supposedly protected her from future claims of her mother-in-law.
So, in my article I would like to talk about wedding dresses in different countries and since I started with France, I will continue about it. But I will touch more of the traditions of the past.
France is a country that is a trendsetter. In every Frenchman and especially Frenchwoman, love for individuality is reflected, accordingly, all dresses in France do not resemble each other at all. A feature of French costumes are hats, the number of which can not be counted according to their variations. The style of the hat depends on the historical area where it lives, for example, in Normandy the hats were high and they were called bourgeois. But Alsace headgear was considered a large silk bow of red or black. Traditionally, the Frenchwoman in her wedding toilet must have been present four things: some blue thing, something old, perhaps inherited from her grandmother, respectively, something new and one more thing - borrowed, more often just take this thing from a friend. It should be noted that this tradition has been observed by the French women even today, but now it has become the role of some kind of game and they already treat this tradition more with humor. Also in the suit were four things that were of a sexual nature: a belt that only a husband could untie, an apron, shoes that meant paired and united, most often the shoes were given by the groom and, of course, the traditional garter.
In Italy, brides wore dresses that completely destroyed the European beauty canons. The fashion included lush forms, which were considered the highest manifestation of femininity: in the upper part of the dress there was a completely female figure, and from the waist spread out with light folds. An interesting fact: in Italy it is believed that it is pearls that help to strengthen family ties, in this connection, the Italians in their wedding hairstyle tried to weave as many pearls into their hair. In addition, they included in their wedding toilet necessarily a pearl necklace, necklace or bracelet.
And now we will leave European traditions and see the traditions of distant India. It is worth noting that it was in India that all the traditions of wedding rituals, including wedding dresses, were preserved to this day. Wedding sari - this is the name of the wedding attire of an Indian woman. The wedding sari is often red and is picked up as a turban of the groom. Just in the tone of the sari they make and cover on the head of an Indian woman. Sari is embroidered with various beads, decorated with embroideries and gold and silvery threads and patterns. More often than not, such a dress is a work of art, over which real masters and craftsmen work. Particular attention is paid to indian jewelry. Decoration of the bride gets by inheritance, buys them before the next wedding or they are given by relatives. Earrings, rings, pendants, bracelets and necklaces, clips, a ring in the nose - all this should be on an Indian on this significant day. One of the main old traditions is the "coloring" of the bride's selection and putting a dot on the forehead, the bride makes all this red paint. The Indian is getting married barefoot, and in this connection, special emphasis is attached to the decoration of the feet. From the tip of the hair to the tip of the nails ... This is how you should describe the bridal shower of the Indian bride.

The history of the costume, wedding dress in Russia also played a huge role. In the old days it was believed that the girl who is getting married is "dead" for her past girlhood life and for her family, and after marriage she went to her husband's family. Therefore, at the wedding, the girl was dressed in "mourning", modest and sad clothes. Some walked under the crown in a black dress and a black veil. After the wedding ceremony, the bride put on a festive, bright, often red dress, which symbolized the beginning of a new life. The dress of the Russian bride was unusually beautiful. He demonstrated the skills and craftsmanship of the future wife and mistress of the handicraft, as well as the material well-being of the family. Often sarafans were passed from generation to generation, from grandmother to daughter, and from daughter to granddaughter and were part of the dowry of the bride. The dress was adorned with beads, pearls, embroideries of gold threads, furs and the weight of such attire reached sometimes fifteen kilograms. Under the sarafan, the Russian bride wore a lot of skirts, thereby making her figure visually more magnificent. Head ornament was a wreath woven from wild flowers. And after a while the wreaths were replaced by ribbons, hoops and kokoshniki.
Modern fashion allows the bride of almost all countries to choose any dress according to their taste and mood. Today, the bride before the bridegroom can appear in any guise, maybe a medieval princess or a business and active woman in a strict suit, can be a Greek goddess or a dreamy and romantic girl in the style of a hippy ...
