Day of the railwayman in 2015

The railway is an important part of the transport system in Russia. In fact, the length of the railway tracks of the country is about 86 thousand km, which allows to carry out a significant part of the transportation of goods and passengers. Therefore, the profession of a railwayman has always been considered one of the most important and significant, affecting the development of the economy of the state.

But today in the railway industry of Russia employs not less than one million workers, who annually receive well-deserved congratulations on their professional holiday - Railwaymen's Day.

What is the date of the railroader's day?

First we will make a short historical excursus. Roots holiday goes to tsarist Russia, even during the reign of Emperor Nicholas I. It is believed that it was this great autocrat that in 1896 began the construction of the first railway leading to Tsarskoe Selo. By the same time, the appearance of the all-Russian railway between St. Petersburg and Moscow was included.

So in Russia the era of the railway began - by the end of the 19th century, the length of the railway lines was already over 33 thousand km. The rapid development of the industry contributed to the formation of certain traditions associated with the professional activities of railway workers. This was the day of the railwayman, whose date of celebration was decided on June 25 (according to the old style) - in honor of the birthday of the emperor-founder Nicholas I.

However, with the advent of the October Revolution of 1917, this date (like many others) was "abolished" by the Bolsheviks as a legacy of the tsarist regime. True, the importance of the railway for the country remained enormous.

This holiday was "remembered" only in 1936, timed to coincide with its date by the day Stalin received a delegation of railway workers - July 30. Since then the holiday has received the official name: Day of a railway transportation of Soviet Union. However, in 1940 it was decided to postpone this significant date for the first Sunday in August.

With the advent of the 80s, the holiday was given its original name "Railwayman's Day" - in honor of railway workers. In 2015, the Day of the Railwayman is celebrated on August 2.

And the one who is stuck in the city
You are met as a hero!
Happy Railroad Day!

Life is woven from parting,
Meetings, tears, roads and distances.
The conductor waved a flag-
A farewell shadow fell on my face.
The buildings are flashing. Like a bird,
Composition towards the sun is racing.
Dilute the tea guides.
The horns break into the window.
Ways of steel interweaving.
Hello, piece of hardware! Happy Birthday!

Your profession was always difficult,
And earlier, and even in the 21st century,
You're a machinist, you drive a train,
For hundreds of lives you are responsible.
My friend, today is your holiday,
I want to wish you a lot,
Health, happiness, joy of the earth
And that was always a happy road!

Holiday scenario Railroader's Day

On the eve of this significant date, we decorate the room with balloons, posters with humorous inscriptions and drawings for a professional "railway" theme. An excellent option will be the creation of good cartoons on the "culprits" of the celebration - funny humorous images can be posted on the walls.

Holding a holiday is better entrusted to an experienced toastmaster, who will be able to maintain a cheerful and relaxed atmosphere throughout the evening. Toasts, congratulations, comic competitions and quizzes will certainly raise the mood to those present, so it's better to think in advance.

Particular attention is paid to musical accompaniment - there will be appropriate "railway" songs ("Blue Carriage", "Mother Railroad" and even "Hymn of the West Siberian Railway"). If desired, it is possible to organize creative competitions with the participation of the "railwaymen" - this is how the railwaymen were called in the old days.

Happy Railroad Day! Strong to you health and easy road!
