Eyes of a newborn - a window into the world!

We all perceive the information surrounding us, mainly through vision. And your child is no exception. Young parents need to carefully monitor the health of their baby, and special attention should be paid to the eyes. After all, the eyes of the newborn - a window into the world! A world full of events and people, so colorful and interesting ...

Mom's or Dad's?

You took the baby from the hospital. When the first shock has passed, things are decomposed and nerves no longer play a role - parents begin to enjoy the new life with might and main. The first thing that usually interests them - who does the child look like? Whose eyes? Mom and Dad usually pull the blanket over themselves. Indeed, sometimes the eyes of the child have a distinct form of one of the parents - but we should not forget that the eye of the child and the eyes of an adult have some differences. If not in appearance, then in operation - that's for sure!

Do not rush to determine the color of your baby's eyes - it can change the first two years of life. Although it happens that a child is born with blue eyes, whose color remains the same throughout his life. But sometimes you can notice that in the morning the shade of the eye is greenish, and by the evening they look dark brown. Do not worry - this is quite normal, the more so, the genes responsible for the dark color of the eyes, can lead a long grueling struggle for their dominant. The main thing - pay attention to the pupil of the child: its color should be deep, black. And eyelashes should be straight, not wrapped inside. If you see deviations from these norms - it is better to see a doctor. It will not be worse for sure.

Do not forget that the baby sees worse than you. After all, he is still so weak, his body continues to actively develop, the organs of hearing and vision are being improved for some time. The retina of the eye is not accustomed to the bright colors of the new world - there was always a pleasant twilight in the abdomen ... Therefore the eyes of the baby should "mature", get used to. Usually the retina is considered fully developed by the year.

But do not forget that all the kids are different, individual. And the formation of visual organs in them occurs in different ways. Someone already in two months is able to look for a long time at a burning light bulb, and someone has the ability to fix the sight on the subject only to four months. However, doctors say that the child's eye development process is completed only at the age of 15 years.

At the age of 6-10 weeks old, you can observe a slight strabismus in your baby. His gaze wanders through the subjects, unsteady, as if blurred. In principle, this is normal - but you should watch the baby. If the strabismus does not disappear after the above-mentioned period - always consult a specialist. If you quit this business for nothing - your baby can have really serious vision problems. And after all it helps the kid to know the world around him.

The world through the eyes of a newborn

As soon as a child is born, his eyes usually react weakly to objects. Unless you can observe the pupils' reaction to bright light - they should narrow, like an adult person under the same circumstances. It seems that it is hard for a toddler to keep his eyes open - he constantly covers his eyelids, tilts his head. His eyes are unconscious, searching, wandering.

However, somewhere in 2-5 weeks the baby may be interested in the bright light of the lamp - and then, perhaps, he will detain the sight at this object. It seems to fix the lamp in its field of vision, its eyes will look at it almost motionless.

Two months will be marked by the new skills of the child. You will notice that he can already follow the bright toy, which you slowly move from side to side, and the distance to the rattle is already an order of magnitude greater.

In three months your child will be able to stop and fix his sight on some object that interested him.

That is, real vision, as in adults, the baby begins to appear and develop somewhere from two months. And at first the development is very rapid: it would seem that a week or two ago he could learn only the "pieces" of the surrounding world: for example, my mother warm chest or friendly face of relatives, and now he also recognizes you, smiles toothless mouth. And how nice to see this is his happiness!

By the way, children's oculists claim that all children from the birth are farsighted. However, the older the baby becomes, the more "far-sightedness" is "smoothed out".

The visualization is parallel to the development of the child's color perception: if earlier he saw everything in black and white, then gradually his life is colored by all shades of the rainbow. A well-known fact: a child begins to discern colors between 2 and 6 months - and this is a universally recognized norm. The first color that the baby sees is red: it's so bright and contrasting. In addition, eye "receivers" of red color are formed the very first. A little later the child will select blue and green colors from the red-white-black range - this happens approximately half-yearly.

Three years is the period when the child should distinguish not only the basic colors, but also their basic shades. However, this does not mean that his vision is no longer developing. It will finally become "ustakanitsya" only to 15 years.

As for orientation in space - the child is very hard given this science, especially up to 4 months. And only with the formation of the so-called "grasping" reflex to it does the awareness of what lies where and how far it is from him. That is, you see that the child is interested in a rattle, he pulls his hands to a bright object with all his might, but he constantly misses. Of course, because he can not measure the distance "by eye"! But now he will have a chance to practice. Especially important here is the period of child's crawling - so he can learn to measure the distance to the object of interest much faster.

For the eyes of the child to care for and carefully monitor, rinse with boiled water, using a separate tampon for each eye. And, of course, take care of it from the TV!
