The Last Day of Carnival - Forgiven Sunday 2016 is an unusual and beloved holiday, accompanied by a beautiful noble custom. On the eve of the strictest Lent, each person should think not only about physical purification, but also about spirituality. On this day it is forbidden to commit bad deeds and build malicious intentions, only to remember your sins and ask forgiveness from friends and relatives.
The great day of the Forgiveness Sunday has a history with pagan pre-Christian roots. Our ancestors during this period worshiped the mighty Sun and celebrated the end of winter. In each village they prepared a scarecrow from straw, dressed it up in embroidered decorations and burned, planting the highest possible fireplace. The tradition was accompanied by complete reconciliation, fun, songs and dances. People tried to finish Maslenitsa on a cheerful good note to confidently step into the hard days of Lent.
