Harm and benefit of coffee

Coffee is one of the oldest beverages on earth. Many Ethiopian tribes pressed coffee beans, then mixed with animal fat and rolled into small balls. Prepared food has exciting properties and greatly facilitates life in difficult natural conditions.

Relatively developed tribes from the pulp of coffee berries produced wine (kawah) - which means an intoxicating drink. From these times the modern name "coffee" has appeared.

Coffee under suspicion.
Concerning coffee opinions always differed. For example, in the East it was used as a remedy for dropsy, gout, scurvy and eye diseases. In Mecca, it was forbidden to drink this drink, referring to "the spread of fun among the population." The attitude of the Arab people towards coffee began to be reflected in the Persian fairy tales. One of these tales says that when the prophet Mohammed drank the first cup of coffee in his life, he immediately had a feeling that he could master 50 women and defeat 40 horsemen.

In the 17th century in England coffee was considered a universal medical device. One of the British even made a medicinal potion from ground coffee and melted butter. This potion allegedly cured hysteria and intestinal illnesses. In France in 1685 Dr. Phillip Sylvester Dufault conducted the first scientific study of coffee, later it was proved that some people can drink coffee, and some are strictly forbidden.

Disputes about the benefits and dangers of coffee over time did not calm down, both religious and scientific. Christians and Muslims believe that coffee is a sober drink, and it can replace alcohol. Sectarians, on the other hand, considered coffee to be "the punishment of God."
