The classical method
Also known as French, and since the French at one time (and now) were virtuosic inventors in any field, they treated the green snake in their own way. So, on the edge of a glass with absinthe a special spoon was placed horizontally, in which lay a piece of sugar. It's a piece, not a crumbly granule! Then the sugar was poured with iced water until the emerald liquid began to grow turbid. This reaction is explained by the fact that cold water lowers the essential oils of alcohol to the bottom. When they go down, alcohol will be easier to drink.
There is an opinion that if you pour sugar with cold sweet water, it will strengthen the action of thujone, a special substance that answers the challenge of the legendary "Green Fairy". However, no one has scientifically proved this hypothesis, and those who conducted experiments in practice have no serious influence in the scientific sphere.
Spoonfuls for absinthe are worth mentioning separately. This is a special tool, invented specifically for absinthe ceremonies. Since the classical method originated in France, you can imagine what spoons local masters did! These were real works of art, decorated with elaborate carvings and precious stones. Today, spoons with holes make it much more modest and practical.
Clean
The simplest and "fastest" method. Despite the elementary, it is not suitable for everyone. Experienced absentia (professionals in the use of wormwood tincture) first cool it to zero temperature, then pour out on thin glasses and drink in one gulp. The recommended serving is 30 g.
The Czech method
One of the most effective and popular ways. In a glass for a quarter pour absinthe, moisten a cube of refined sugar and place it on a spoon, installed on the edges of the glass. Ignite the sugar and wait for it to burn out for about a minute. While you admire the beautiful bluish flame, the refiner melts, dripping to the bottom of the glass. When he burns, mix the contents of the glass with a spoon, add to the taste of ice water and drink.
We offer you a video of how to drink absinthe in the Czech method.
Method "Modified parachute"
Quite an interesting way, albeit a bit complicated. As a result, the drink feels a slight euphoria, the person becomes hot, and the movements slightly slow.
In the cognac wine glass pour 40 ml of tincture. In a glass for whiskey pour 45 ml of juice or tonic and sideways lowered into it brandy. Then absinthe is ignited and slowly turned, so that the wine glass does not burst. Burning drink carefully poured into a glass for whiskey, cover with a glass so that the fire goes out. After that, slightly tilt the brandy and insert a tube into the hole quickly to inhale the vapors. Smoking absent pairs should be breathed in by the nose, and exhaling through the mouth, otherwise you can burn the larynx. While you are smoking, sugar is set on the saucer (you have already realized that you can not cope with such a "parachute" alone), impregnated with absinthe. If you initially diluted absinthe juice, having finished the pair, drink it with a volley. If you prefer to use a tonic or a sprite, it is better to hit the table with a glass, as if you are drinking tequila-boom.
