When can I start?
It is impossible to name a certain month when the baby can already begin to feed from a spoon with various soups or meat. Mom needs to determine for himself whether the parameters of growth, weight and development are suitable for this.
- The child should be able to sit and show his desire or unwillingness to eat, bending forward or backward.
- The interest of the baby to the food that parents use. He himself must show a desire to try this or that dish.
- Hunger after a normal serving of breast milk or a mixture.
- The weight of the baby should be at least twice the birth-rate.
- Absence of tongue repelling reflex. That is, if you give him a spoonful of soup, he must swallow the food, and not smudge over the face and clothes
- For children who are exclusively breastfed, the first lure can be started from six months, and children who have been fed on artificial mixtures can begin to be introduced from the moment they reach the age of five months.
- The main thing is not to start lure too early, because the baby's body may simply not be ready to physically perceive new food. The digestive organs may suffer, which can not cope with heavy food.
Calendar of complementary foods by months:
- In three months it is still not recommended to start feeding the baby with "adult" food, especially if it feeds only on mother's milk. Such a decision can only be made by a qualified specialist.
- In four months it is possible to try to give the child to try fruit one-component juices, but only in case of artificial feeding. It will be enough to give the baby a teaspoon of new food and watch the reaction of his body.
- In the fifth month of life, mothers are gradually advised to give their children vegetable mashed potatoes, only 10 grams per day, gradually bringing up to a hundred grams.
- After the expiration of six months, the feeding of babies is introduced almost everywhere. Weak babies can be fed with porridges, but if the child is completely healthy, limit vegetable mashed potatoes from zucchini or cauliflower. Gradually, with this kind of food, you need to completely replace one dairy feed.
- In seven months, children can start giving different porridges. First they are prepared with liquid (a teaspoon of cereals per one hundred grams of liquid), gradually increasing the density and size of the portion. Later porridge also becomes a substitute for one breastfeeding. As in the case of previous products, the first sample should be very tiny, and over time the baby will eat up to 150 grams of porridge per day.
- Already at eight months the digestive system of the baby is ready for use of fermented milk products: cottage cheese, kefir and yogurt.
- Nine-month-old children can safely give a try such an extremely useful product, like meat. It is better to start with dietary species (veal, rabbit or turkey) to check if it does not cause allergies. Give the baby to try just half a teaspoon of meat along with vegetable puree or porridge.
- In ten months, you can introduce fish into the baby's diet. It is better to use white sea (hake or cod). This is less likely to cause an allergy or disorder. In any case, it is better to give fish for breakfast, so that during the day you can observe the reaction of the child.
