Indoor and decorative flowers and plants

Indoor and ornamental flowers and plants need special care. The experience of flower growers tells us that in this case it is necessary to adhere to certain rules. For example, pot plants, in order to develop normally and fluffy blossoms, you need a lot of light, which means you need to put them in a very bright place. But still a lot of plants in the summer can not be in the sun, but here in the morning and in the evening it is quite possible to enjoy the sun's rays.

But the beginning flower growers do not think about how much sun will receive their plant, and where it is placed in the room so that it was beautiful. It can, of course, look beautiful, but such a position only brings harm to plants. It is very bad when plants are huddled in the dusk. Over time, this situation will lead to the fact that the stems will begin to stretch, bend, the flowers will fade and lose grace. Experts say that the illumination of any of the rooms is very unevenly distributed. Even if the small room has a large window, on the windowsill it is only 40% of the street, not to mention the corners of the room, where it is only 1%!

Based on these data, we can come to the conclusion that the best place for placing indoor and decorative flowers and plants is in front of the window. No further than one meter from it, and in those corners that are not too dark, you can place only the most shade-tolerant plants, such as aspidistra, philodendron, cleavage, ficus, variegated begonia, some ferns, and arrowroot.

If you have a lot of flowers accumulated on the windowsill and this sight looks, to put it mildly, not very effectively, you can make a ladder-stand using thin boards. Well, or buy in a specialized store. On the steps of this ladder should be placed your pots of flowers. Those who love light, we put on the lower tiers, and shade-tolerant - on the upper steps. In no case do you need to put your plants on cabinets, because there they will be able to receive very poor lighting. Shoots will reach for the light, weaken, then become crumbled, which does not adorn your house at all, but rather vice versa.

Violets, pelargoniums and balsamam most place on the sun-sill. These and other plants are always directed to the sunlight, because of this they sometimes can get a not quite attractive form, with one-sided rosettes and twisted stems. In order to prevent this from your plants, you should turn the pots from time to time, so that the plant from each of its sides could receive the same portion of light and develop evenly, without distorting its appearance. Well, if you need to rearrange any of your light-loving plants into the room, do not send sunlight, for example, into the corridor, then this is permissible, but only for no more than two or three days. After that, they must be returned to the window sill.

For each houseplant, it's time for a transplant. After all, the amount of food they have depends on the size of the pot. Young plants need to be transplanted every spring, and old plants after a few years. For example, a palm tree under the age of 3 years should be transplanted every year, in a period when it is 5-7 years - in 3-4 years, and if it is more than 10 years - only after the tub rot. Transplanting indoor flowers and plants is necessary because in the course of time there are less and less substances that feed the plant. Also, factors such as its water permeability change, the acidity of the soil increases and the pot itself is already small in size.

Most plants do not tolerate transplant very well, which means that very often it is not necessary to do it. We will give you some signs to determine the time when you already need to transplant your decorative indoor flowers:

- you noticed that the plant began to grow worse than flowers, the flowers appear smaller and smaller than usual;

- the ground begins to be squeezed out of the pot. This means that there is an excess of roots inside it;

- the roots begin to leave the bottom opening of the pot.

If you notice one of them, or several at once, you need to immediately think about the transplant. As a rule, it is done at the end of winter or early spring. Approximately in February-March, that is, before the plant begins to leave the rest period, sometimes - with the appearance of new leaves. If your plant is sick, you must, of course, replant it, without waiting for a favorable period.

The flower to be transplanted must be stopped watering 3-4 days before the transplantation, this is necessary in order for the earthen lump to be easily removed from the pot. From the top layer of the earth, we shoot 2-3 centimeters and discarded. Then you need to pick up another pot, with a diameter 3-4 cm larger than the previous one. Next, we must cover the bottom hole of the new pot with a shard and fill it with a couple of centimeters of pebbles or you can use other drainage material.

Then we need to prepare a suitable earth mixture for the plant. After we did this, it should be poured into a half-pot with a cone. Now we hit with the right hand on the bottom of the pot with the plant and shake it out. We take the scissors and gently cut the roots, which are braided by an earth clod and with the help of a sharp wooden stick we must remove the earth from the roots from below. When large and decayed roots are found, they must be cut off, and the slices sprinkled with coal dust. We do not need to shake the earth completely off the roots, and in this form we shift the plant into a new pot. The old pot should be washed with soap, scalded with boiling water and wiped from the inside with a steep solution of potassium permanganate.

The roots must be carefully spread over the earthen cone and slightly filled with soil mixture. At the same time, you need to shake a bit and tap the table against the table in order to avoid empty spaces between the roots.

Near the walls of the pot, we need to compact the earth. Then it should be watered abundantly, then mulch with a dry earth. After the performed transplant procedure, we must place the plant in a place where direct sunlight does not reach. Such a plant should not be watered for another five days, but it should be sprayed every day.
