Nail extensions

Recently, more and more popular procedure is the build-up of nails, and a real boom in building up is just for spring-summer. What advantages does the fashion innovation offer and should it be feared?

Artificial nails against natural. Artificial, accrued nails are strong, long, cause admiration of others. Indeed, with the help of build-up, you can adjust short nail plates, align their surface, strengthen thin, stratified, brittle nails, decorate yellowness or white patches.

In addition, artificial nails serve as a long-term protection for the natural: the accreted coating prevents the influence of ultraviolet radiation, household chemicals, mechanical damage . It is noticed that with the regular wearing of artificial nails, the condition of natural nail plates improves: they acquire a more elegant form, and the surface is leveled.

Despite the obvious advantages of building, the procedure has a number of clear contra-indications.

What you need to know about methacrylate. According to the chemical nature, materials for nail extensions are referred to the group of methacrylates. These substances have long been used in the chemical industry, but the study of the effects of methacrylates on the skin began relatively recently. It has been shown that regular exposure to methacrylates leads to the development of allergies: the skin becomes dry, flakes, reddens . The inhalation of methacrylate vapors irritates the nasopharynx, and also negatively affects the nervous system, causing symptoms similar to those of alcoholic intoxication. This confusion, headaches, heaviness in the head, drowsiness.

The discovery of these facts led to the fact that nail growth was attributed to negative effects, including the development of chronic allergies. Although the research of methacrylates continues, it can be argued that a properly conducted procedure for building up is practically safe for the visitor of the salon . First of all, when building up, minimal amounts of methacrylates are used, which are incomparable with industrial volumes. In addition, experienced masters minimize the time of contact with liquid materials for building up and avoid getting methacrylates on the skin.

Acrylic or gel? As we already mentioned, both the so-called acrylic and gel belong to the group of methacrylates. However, acrylic and gel for nail extensions have their own nuances and are suitable for different occasions.

Acrylic is a very strong material. Acrylic nails can be worn for 3-4 months, they look natural, indistinguishable from natural. Acrylic is recommended for people leading an active lifestyle, with strong, healthy nails. In addition, acrylic is chosen with the build-up of nails on the legs: there is no need for frequent correction, and you can do with one procedure for the entire summer season. However, acrylics have drawbacks. This component has a strong odor (palpable, until the artificial nails harden), and also loses its shine when using acetone-containing liquids to remove varnish.

Gel - softer material, it is recommended to owners of flexible, thin nails. The gel also looks very natural, moreover, it has an indelible shine. However, the gel procedure is more time consuming: to dry the gel, you need to use a special UV lamp. In addition, "gel" nails are difficult to "take off": only an experienced master can do this. When choosing material for building, one should also take into account individual preferences: maybe some substance causes intolerance to you, or vice versa, artificial nails hold more and look better.

Procedure. Directly before nail extensions, it is not recommended to use nourishing oil or cream. The fact that the oil components are absorbed long enough, and the oil film on the surface of the nail will lead to the fact that the artificial nails will begin to flake very quickly.

The first step on the way to building up is the removal of the surface, shiny layer of nails, which is sawed off with a fine-grained file. After that, the nail plates are treated with an antiseptic.

There are two types of nail extensions - using tips (artificial tips) or molds. If the build-up is carried out with the help of tips, the prefabricated tips are chosen according to the size of each nail, and then glued to the surface. This glue dries in a few seconds, so you can soon use the material to build. If the master works with molds, then they are fixed at the edges of the nails, and then poured with material for building. Very often the question arises, how long should nails be grown? If you are building an extension for the first time, then it makes sense to choose a short length. So you will have the opportunity to "try on" artificial nails and then decide on a more daring option.

The actual build-up (using a gel or acrylic) requires several layers. When the artificial nail is ready, its surface is degreased, polished and applied so-called "sealing" coating, which gives an ideal smoothness and shine. After this procedure, you can use nail polish. By the way, the varnish on the accrued nails keeps better and longer than on natural ones .

Nail extensions last 2-3 hours, depending on the materials used and the subsequent pattern of varnish. Now you can forget about manicure for a few weeks, but the increased nails will still make themselves felt, because they require special care.

Care for the nails. Unlike artificial ones, natural nails grow constantly: their length, form, supply with nutrients changes. Artificial coating is not able to adapt to such changes, therefore every 2-3 weeks it is necessary to correct the nails. During the correction, the master filings the artificial plate, giving it a new length and shape. If the correction is neglected, then even a small mechanical effect will result in the loss of the artificial nail.

Although artificial nails look very strong and healthy, they require careful treatment. Do not use accrued nails as tools, do not subject them to heavy mechanical stress. Remember that damage or detachment of an artificial nail will expose an unprotected, living nail plate. Increased nails can not be sheared, but only saw with a non-metallic fine-grained file. Another caution - stay away from the open source of fire: methacrylates are classified as strong-bodied substances.

Artificial nails can be worn constantly, properly performed procedure protects natural nail plates and gives them a beautiful appearance. If you decide to remove the accrued plate, then be careful: removing artificial nails - no less laborious procedure than their build-up.

"Withdrawal" of artificial nails. There is an opinion that after experiencing growth, natural nails become thinner, become soft and brittle. In fact, the health of natural nails depends on the quality of the procedure for removing accreted plates.

To remove acrylic nails, it is sufficient to remove the free edge, and then lower your fingers into a special liquid that dissolves acrylic. Gel nails must be cut. This can only be done by an experienced craftsman with the help of special saws or hardware attachments. Attempts to remove accrued nails alone will lead to damage to the natural nail, peeling off its surface and thinning the plate. In the salon, after removing the accrued nails, the natural plate is treated with a special restoring agent. Subsequently, the nails will require intensive moisturizing and nourishing care. It is ideal to use special creams for nails, as well as emollient oils for the cuticle.
