Prevention of thermal burns in a child

A child's burn is a case that is extremely undesirable, no matter what the size of the skin and what organs it captures. It is very difficult for a kid to cope with such overheating, leading to the destruction of tissues. Therefore, it would be best from the very childhood to teach the child safety rules when interacting with a hot liquid, hot objects. However, parents also need to know some very important rules, compliance with which will reduce the risk of getting a child's burn to a minimum. It is about these rules that I would like to talk about in our today's article "Preventing thermal burns in a child".

Of course, knowing everything about the prevention of thermal burns in a child is not enough - life is unpredictable, it is sometimes impossible to keep track of everything, so adults should also be aware of the rules of first aid for a child's burn. And given that the burns are of three degrees, and each of them requires special treatment. However, as I said above, it is better to try to foresee and prevent the occurrence of thermal burns in the baby.

Here is a list of the main points that adults should pay special attention to, since children are unlikely to assess the full potential danger of a particular situation.

  1. Prevention of burns - this is primarily a presence in the house of a working fire extinguisher, at least one. In addition, it is mandatory to install smoke detectors.
  2. Fire alarm in the event of a dangerous situation should produce the loudest piercing sounds. This is to ensure that even a tightly sleeping baby wakes up and realizes that you need to be urgently evacuated or call for help.
  3. Fire safety rules should be introduced in the mandatory training course in the home study. The child should know the phone of the fire station and the fact that easily flammable items and open fire are not created for games.
  4. If you carry something hot from one room to another - you do not need to carry a child in the other hand.
  5. In addition, parents are forbidden to smoke and eat something very hot, if they have a small child sitting on their hands.
  6. You should understand that even a small, not extinguished butt can lead to a fire and, accordingly, the occurrence of burns in the child. Therefore, it is best to smoke outside the house, or carefully stub cigarette butts.
  7. If you are piling over a stove, create culinary masterpieces, the child should not be in your hands at the same time, in order to avoid small thermal burns caused, for example, by the ingress of drops of hot oil onto the baby's skin.
  8. It is best if the pots are placed on the rear burners - so the child will not be able to reach and burn on the open fire (or turn on a pan of boiling water).
  9. In addition, if you spilled a plate of freshly cooked soup, or poured tea into the cups, then make sure that all these dishes with hot foods were pushed off the edge of the table.
  10. Special attention should be given to the cranes with water. You must, first of all, yourself to take the habit of opening the first tap with cold water, and only then - with a hot one. It is also necessary to teach this and your child.
  11. If you like beautiful glossy tablecloths, then you need also to remember that such a sliding, flowing surface also very simply moves away from the surface of the table, if it is properly pulled. And behind it can fall and plates and cups with hot filling. Therefore, it is better to buy special non-slippery rugs under the plates, or napkins, the edges of which do not hang from the table, giving the child a wonderful temptation to pull for them.
  12. You yourself understand what danger is in the electric kettle, especially the one that just boiled. Therefore, even if you are sure that the device itself is located out of the reach of the child, still check also the location of its cord - will the kid be able to pull for it and knock over the kettle?
  13. Teach your child that you can not play in the kitchen - this is the place for cooking and eating food, and the point. And never leave a crumb without supervision in the kitchen.
  14. If you have any sources of open fire (which can serve, for example, fireplaces or candles, gas stoves, bonfires - if it is a private house), then it is strictly forbidden to leave the baby one without the elder in such potentially dangerous places . Even for one second, even for a moment. It is better to take it with you.
  15. Carefully and far away hide dangerous items: in particular, it concerns matches and lighters, as well as combustible and hot liquids.
  16. All items that have a heated surface (irons and curling irons, heaters of any kind, steam humidifiers, etc.) must be in places inaccessible to the baby.
  17. Before you feed or water a child with what you just warmed up, be sure to try food and drink yourself to avoid thermal burns to your child's mouth.
  18. Particular attention should also be paid to the fact that it was heated in a microwave oven, as it usually warms up unevenly. Therefore, get food, mix it thoroughly and try it.
  19. When you pick up a bathroom in the evening to bathe a baby, do not forget to throw a thermometer into the water. If there is no water thermometer in your house, then before putting the crumb in the bath, check the water - is it too hot? After all, many mothers are afraid to "freeze" the child, and forget that the optimal temperature during bathing is 37 degrees .
  20. If you fell into your childhood and decided to pour something into the fire on the street, then immediately throw this nonsense out of your head, especially if the child sees it. Do not forget: children tend to repeat everything for their parents, and such dangerous jokes - including.
  21. Do not let the child play with firecrackers, fireworks and various salute settings: remember, these are games for adults, and children are certainly not the place!
  22. In spite of the fact that all our grandmothers and mothers taught us at the first sign of a cold to soar in the hot water, nevertheless modern pediatrics strongly does not recommend the use of this sadistic measure. The skin of the child is so tender that a serious thermal burn can be obtained.
