School conflicts and their decisions

The school is a space in which hundreds of people meet daily, both children and adults. Naturally, in their joint work there are many conflict situations. But, unfortunately, it is not always possible to resolve them normally. School conflicts and their decisions are individual and therefore it is worth first of all to understand the grounds on which they are built.

Conflict Groups

It is worth highlighting the three main groups of conflicts within the school: conflicts that are based on value grounds, conflicts on the grounds of personal psychological and conflicts on the basis of resource-environment. Each of these conflicts requires completely different strategies of work. It should also be borne in mind that if a conflict situation arises in the classroom or school, all 3 groups of grounds should be distinguished in it.

Value bases

The most serious reason for conflict situations in school is the difference in worldviews, differences in the tasks of upbringing and education. The most common form of value conflict in school is a dispute between the values of education that parents are guided by and values that the school or a certain teacher is oriented toward.

For example, parents are guided by a rather rigid educational model. They want the child to be obedient at first; and the teacher values the child's ability to express himself creatively. This discrepancy of values will be a constant source of conflicts, manifested in anything. Or vice versa: parents consider the main task of school education in the development of the children's abilities for freedom, in the development of his personality, the development of his creative ideas, and the school adheres to a rigid educational system.

Another version of the value conflict is the conflict between the teacher and the school administration. Conflicts of this kind also arise between children, mainly in adolescence and older schoolchildren.

Value conflict is not resolved by any psychotherapeutic methods. It is worth trying to organize a dialogue. If this does not work, the only way out of this conflict is to make sure that in working moments there are people who are close in value orientations. That is, in this conflict, the most effective way to resolve - the division of the conflicting parties across the territories in those areas of work that cause controversy.

Resource-environment

The very organization of the education process is potentially conflictual. Most often this is due to the shortage of some resources. Basically, for the resolution of this type of conflict, there is a more skilful and deliberate organization of the educational environment.

Personally-psychological

The most common among the teachers, and among schoolchildren, the conflicts, the so-called "did not meet the characters." Basically, they are connected with the struggle for leadership and self-affirmation. Such conflicts are resolved by psychological adjustment. It is necessary to conduct a variety of group and individual therapy, psychological training.
