- apple cider - 2 liters
- strips of lemon peel - 4 pieces
- cinnamon sticks - 2 pieces
- aniseed stars (optional) - 2 pieces
- whole berries of cloves - 1 teaspoon
- Carnations - 1 Teaspoon
In a large saucepan bring cider, lemon zest and spices to a boil, remove from heat. Leave to stand for at least 20 minutes (or up to 4 hours). Strain the cider through cheesecloth and pour over the mugs.
