Signs and properties of sugar

What is sugar?

In its composition and properties, sugar is divided into monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides. Monosaccharides include grape sugar (glucose or dextrose), fruit sugar (fructose) and galactose. Disaccharides include milk sugar (lactose), malt sugar (maltose), beet and sugar cane (sucrose).
The human intestine can only assimilate monosaccharides.
In order for the human body to assimilate the disaccharides, their digestion into monosaccharides must occur in the intestine. The same can be said about vegetable starch, cellulose, which in the digestive tract is not cleaved and is the most important fibrous substance in humans.

Sugar is a source of energy

Along with the fruits of legumes, potatoes, vegetables and grains, sugar is one of the main sources of carbohydrates. Different types of sugar and starch are the most important carbohydrates for human beings, since they give the muscles the necessary energy. Consumption of carbohydrates is about 300-500 grams per day. Monosaccharides are easily absorbed and from the intestine get directly into the blood, therefore, using them you can quickly restore the lost strength and again become vigorous and workable. A healthy and special type of sugar is honey. It contains 75-80 percent of sugar (glucose, fructose and sucrose), 15-20 percent of water, minerals and trace elements (iron, potassium, calcium, copper, magnesium, sodium and phosphorus). Analysis of honey shows that there are even antibacterial substances in it.

Can sugar become the cause of the disease?

According to statistics, each person from different countries consumes a different amount of sugar, about forty kilograms, maybe even 56 kilograms per year (that is, slightly less than 110 grams per day). Sugar in large quantities is harmful if the diet contains no food products (liver, eggs), in which there are many B vitamins, since the digestion of sugar in the human body uses vitamin B1 (symptoms of its lack - reduced efficiency and ability to concentrate).

Sweets without sugar?

Some candies, chewing gums do not contain sugar, because they use sugar substitutes (as well as in the manufacture of products intended for people with diabetes). Sweet substitutes can cause bloating, disrupt intestinal activity, so quite often because of them there are various complications, especially in 2-3 year old children. Very badly those people who want to lose weight, sometimes they use products intended for people with diabetes. This can be harmful to health.

How to use sugar?

First. Wherever possible, to sweeten food and drink instead of sugar, you can use honey.
The second. Many food products contain sugar, and we do not even suspect about it.
Third. The more sugar you eat, the more you will feel hungry.
Fourth. Comforting children with sweets or bringing them sweets every evening is a big mistake.

Many foods contain some type of sugar. With increasing glucose concentration, more insulin is produced. The greatest concentration of glucose in the blood about an hour after eating, then the maximum is the concentration of insulin (such concentrations are after eating a hundred grams of glucose). Therefore, you must take care of your health and treat the use of sugar with caution. This all protects you from an overabundance of sugar in the blood, and therefore protects against many further diseases, including diabetes.
