The history of women's fashion of the early 20th century

The beginning of the 20s of the last century was marked by getting rid of the nightmares of the First World War. As is usually the case in such cases, restoration of industry, agriculture, and other branches of production was everywhere.

The genius of Ford (conveyor) allowed to put on stream sewing clothes and shoes. However, the true women of fashion could not be satisfied with this option - they always needed to dress purely individually.

The First World has done what ordinary exports and imports could not do before - it gradually brought together the fashion trends of the Old and New Worlds. Also, the participation of women on a par with men in hostilities led to the emancipation of the fair sex. This has been expressed in many aspects of life. For example, women now did not like being guardians of the hearth - they wanted to work, have fun, drive a car - in general, lead a free way of life. Only now such a life did not correspond to the ideas of pre-war fashion. And as a result, new ideals were gradually polished, both in clothes and in appearance. In the pursuit of equality began the craze for cigarettes. Smoked everywhere, wherever possible, and as much as necessary. A special glamor was the presence of an expensive inlaid cigarette case and a long mouthpiece.

Now the lady should be slim, without any hint at the splendor of the forms. Women began to wear pants, which was the beginning of the style, which we know as "unisex". Women have got rid of long luxurious curls, replacing them with a practical "page". European and American ladies, to match their knights, began to wear tuxedos with a deliberately carelessly tied tie, complementing the outfit with a hat.

Our ladies wore men's clothes for a different reason: the country was acutely affected by a shortage of fabrics, and the material for military uniforms was more than enough. So it turned out that the shoes of typical female activists of the 1920s consisted of army boots, and clothes from a tunic, and a skirt cut from men's trousers. Often the outfit was supplemented with a man's leather jacket and a bright kerchief.

Well, if you take in general, then the style of the dress of the beginning of the century was different with a straight cut with a big, saucy neckline on the back. Popular were monophonic dresses made from such noble materials as velvet, satin, silk, trimmed with beads, fringed and embroidered. To this dress jazz shoes-boats and silk (or synthetic) stockings were used. Stockings became fashionable because the length of the dresses was sharply reduced. Well-off madam could afford expensive silk stockings, but the middle class was content with synthetics. The length of the dresses was sometimes such that garters were visible, which, of course, could not but affect the designer's delights. Also an obligatory attribute of a woman of fashion of the 1920s was a long string of pearls, which she wrapped around her neck several times.

The fashion of the 1920s is a period of cardinal changes in priorities in clothing and footwear, as well as in appearance. Abroad enjoy the rabid success of the creation of Russian immigrant fashion designers: shawls, costume jewelry and lace. There are incredibly popular make-up of a la Greta Garbo, thick eyes and bright lipstick. In the same years, Chanel №5, a small black dress, brands BOSS HUGO BOSS, adidas, ANNE KLEIN NEW YORK, and some others appear. Surprisingly, retro is always in vogue, and therefore retro clothes will not only emphasize your personality, and make those around you pay attention to you, but also give you a sea of good mood, carelessness and lightness.
