Mullet is a fish, small in size, belonging to the genus Mugilidae. It dwells in the salty waters of the warm seas of the tropical climate. In the United States mullet is mostly caught off the coast of Florida. Mullet is common in two varieties. This is white mullet and striped, which in our country is called a loban. This fish is known as one of the main inhabitants of the Black Sea, where you can meet already 4 of its species. These are sharks, sinhili, primordially Black Sea lobas and pelengasas. By the way, the pelengas came to the Black Sea from the Japanese at the end of the last century. The reason was a decrease in the number of this fish in the Black Sea, as a result of which it was decided to bring to the sea much more unpretentious species.

In the 20th century, approximately in the 30s, this Black Sea fish was allowed into the Caspian Sea, where it successfully took root. Now the Black Sea mullet can be found along the whole coast of the Caspian Sea.

This fish is pretty beautiful. It has a small mouth, its length is about 40 centimeters, it is silvery, and its scales are large and shiny. Mullet, in the main, keeps flocks. Fish are very mobile, sometimes they can even jump over the supplied fishing nets: when they are frightened of something, they jump out of the water quite cleverly. Mullet maturity reaches 8 years of his life, when its length reaches forty centimeters. Her spawning takes place from May to September, and for this, both coastal waters and open waters are suitable for her. Mullet - very prolific fish. The basis of its nutrition is vegetative growth of substrates under water.

It is deliciously panicked or fried in oil, baked with mushrooms, especially with white, braised in a sauce with the addition of white wine, fish broth and golden onions.
