Vertical birth: for and against

Childbirth, in which a woman does not lie on a bed or a special chair, but is in a vertical position, is called vertical. Despite the fact that such a way of the appearance of kids is known since ancient times, it became very popular only in the last decade. And then, to give birth, standing on his haunches or on all fours is fashionable only in some European countries and the United States.

In our country, in most cases, vertical childbirths are discussed only theoretically, and few women decide on such a traditional way for our culture and medicine to resolve the burden.

Doctors who have many years of practice in the maternity hospitals believe that the birth in the supine position is unnatural for both the mother and the baby. This is not surprising, because it is in this position that a woman can not practically move and help that child to be born.

History of vertical childbirth

In historical documents, specialists find out that vertical childbirth was the most common thing, and giving birth in the lying position began no more than 2-3 centuries ago.

For example, in Russia, the birth took place in a specially prepared bath for this purpose, which was previously heated hot. In conjunction with the woman in the room, there was a midwife, who did not allow to lie down even for a few minutes: on the contrary, the woman was forced to walk, which prevented the child from advancing faster to the exit.

In the Chinese chronicles also find records of what to be wearing in this ancient country, which has developed medicine, it was accepted sitting by the pegs. Even farther went the inhabitants of medieval Europe, which, as one of the mandatory items included in the dowry of the bride, was a special stool with a hole, designed for delivery.

It is believed that the fashion for horizontal childbirth arose during the period of rapid development of obstetrics - it is in this position that it is easiest to conduct medical manipulations. There is also a less traditional version, according to which the famous Louis XIV happily spent time in the room of the woman in childbirth, the woman's avertical position did not allow to observe the process of the appearance of a new person.

How vertical childbirth occurs today

In modern clinics practicing vertical delivery, in the first phase of labor, the woman is not limited in movement, and therefore the most painful and long period is much easier. So, the mother is able to move around the room, sit on a chair, bed, fitbole, lie on the bed, take a shower, and if there is a technical possibility, even take a bath or swim in a special pool. This practice allows you to choose the most comfortable position for yourself, reduce pain, thanks to which fewer painkillers are introduced, which can harm both the health of the mother and the baby who has not yet been born.

The key stage of childbirth in the vertical position can occur in one of the following postures: the woman in bed is kneeling, on the crotch is located on a special stool with a hole in the middle. The woman can choose the most comfortable position.

As for doctors, they recommend to give birth, standing in the knees in a slightly inclined forward position. If the woman in labor has a more comfortable position, then the woman should face the doctors and midwives.

If deliveries go without complications, physicians only observe the process, and if necessary will be able to shift the woman to the back and make the necessary manipulations.

Detachment and the birth of the placenta, that is, the final etoprodov, also passes in an upright position, and the newly born baby the woman can hold on her hands.

Advantages of vertical delivery

Doctors recognize that vertical births have a lot of advantages, namely:

No less important is the psychological component: a woman can manage the process herself, and after the birth of a child, immediately take it in her arms.
