Weight during pregnancy

Almost all pregnant women are waiting for the time when they have a tummy. In addition, some pregnant women are alarmed by future changes in their own size, because along with the tummy, other parts of the body grow and round up. Which, by the way, does not please future mother.

During pregnancy, the weight of a woman inevitably increases and this is normal, because weight gain suggests that pregnancy is normal. However, the weight gain should remain within the established limits, which are different for each woman.

On average, for the entire pregnancy a woman types from 10.6 to 14.9 kg. To "superfluous" you can take only 2-4 kg. But it should also be borne in mind that a pregnant woman needs additional fat tissue just to protect the fetus from external mechanical damage.

Norms of weight

Doctors of gynecologists believe that if during pregnancy the woman gained from 7 to 17 kilograms of weight, then this is normal. Why such a significant gap in numbers? This is due to several reasons that affect the number of kilos gained during pregnancy. One of the reasons is the age of the future mother, the older she is, the higher the risk of getting better. Another cause may be severe toxemia in the first trimester of pregnancy, during which several kilograms are lost, but afterwards the body begins to fully replenish the lost kilograms. Another reason may be a toddler (more than 4 kg), which is waiting for the mother. In fact in this case the placenta will weigh more than average. Excess weight is likely if a woman suffers from increased appetite during pregnancy, but can not resist him.

The optimal weight gain of a pregnant woman is predicted by the doctor on the basis of weight before pregnancy, as well as her physique. If before pregnancy the woman was thin, then its norm in weight gain will be 12-17 kg. If a woman before pregnancy had a normal physique, then it will be possible to dial from 11 to 16 kilograms. If before the conception the woman had magnificent forms, then her norm in weight gain would be 7-1 kg. A woman ideal for Rubens can only gain 6 kg for the entire pregnancy.

Body mass index

Every woman of the word "harmony and beauty" treats in its own way: women are struggling with excess weight, and the neighbors-old women in the trail say "Skinnyaya such!" Physicians therefore apply a special amount - BMI (which means body mass index) and a formula for calculating the value.

BMI = body weight / height in square (height measured in meters, and weight measured in kg)

BMI <20 - insufficient weight

BMI = 20-27 - normal weight

BMI> 27 - Overweight

BMI> 29 - obesity

For example: height 164, and weight 64 kg

64 / (1.64 x 1.64) = 23.79 - BMI - normal weight

Growth rate

During pregnancy, this indicator is also individual. During the first three months of pregnancy a woman can gain only 1-2 kg, that is, there is a slight set in weight. In some cases of severe toxemia, a pregnant woman may even lose several kilograms. Over the rest of the time, the growth rate will increase: a woman will recruit about 500 grams per week. If one week pregnant got 250 grams, and for the second 750 grams, then this is normal, the main thing is that there should not be any sudden jerks up or down. In the last month of pregnancy, when a portion of excess fluid leaves weight decreases by about 500-1000 grams. This is normal, because the body shows that it is preparing for labor.

Simple rules

It is not necessary to adhere to the grandmother's advice and there is "for two" or "how much you want", then the gain in weight will be correct and do no harm to your health. It is worth remembering that excess fatty tissue can cause the development of diabetes or cause late toxicosis. But you should not also starve, arrange for yourself unloading days, get on a diet, all this during pregnancy is unacceptable. Do you gain weight too fast? Then give up animal fats and sweet, especially from chocolate.

To get accurate information about your weight gain, it is recommended to weigh yourself regularly and do it better in the morning, on an empty stomach, preferably at one time, in the same clothing or without it.
