All about verbal and non-verbal communication

More than once, walking along the street, you noticed crowds of people going somewhere on their business. You do not see the difference between them. You are full of confidence that you have no idea of the type of their activities, their thoughts. You think that you do not know what these men and women are talking about at the turn of the street, this is a couple in love or this is a business conversation between the client and the manager. Do you want to know a little more?

For this, it is not at all necessary to be able to read other people's thoughts, you need very little - a little bit of observation, attentiveness, understanding of others and a tiny fraction of intuition. After all, there is a science that will teach you to understand people, read information about a person by his facial expressions, gait, gestures. This science is a nonverbal. With its help you can learn everything about non-verbal communication.

So, back to the already known to us a couple on the corner. The guy's gaze is directed directly at the girl's eyes, during the conversation his hand is raised, gently moving towards the companion as if from the heart, showing the palm completely. This shows that his words are sincere and true, and he is trustworthy. His body is slightly tilted forward, as if trying to approach the girl, and she, in turn, leaned slightly forward, which can be interpreted as the interest of each other in the topic of this conversation. The girl's head tilted aside says that she wants something more than just to please him. Her shoulders are lowered, her hands are not tense. She laid one hand on the bag, the other one along the body. These actions mean that the girl is comfortable with him, she is serene and full of confidence. From what we saw, we can conclude that this is none other than a pair of beloved.

And if you pay attention to a couple walking towards us, also a man and a woman. The whole body of the man expresses the inconvenience he feels - from unnaturally raised shoulders and lowered head to tightly clenched lips. He feels uncomfortable, his raised shoulders are an indicator of fear, and his compressed mouth is angry, and also that he can not express himself. Although the speech of his companion is not audible, you can see how her brows are frowned and their corners are raised, and wrinkles appear on the bridge of the nose. There is no doubt that the woman is very angry. She lowers, then raises her hand, palm down, thereby restraining the influx of negative emotions. All these facts only talk about one thing - the couple recently quarreled.

Looking in the cafe, you can find even more examples for analysis. One of the tables is occupied by two men. One of them, a young guy, is trying to explain something to a middle-aged man with enthusiasm. The man looks concentrated, supporting his cheek with one fist. The second hand he laid on the table, slightly leaning his whole body forward. The young man's efforts are appreciated, his words are most likely interesting to the listener.

Two middle-aged men in strict suits occupy another table. It is not easy to understand where their views are directed, on each other, or on the sides. But it is quite clear that one of them is clearly trying to leave the other in a fool. Notice, hides his mouth, shielding his hand, and as if accidentally scratching his nose from time to time. All these gestures mean that the man deliberately lies. And his scratching of his neck speaks of insecurity and fear. His interlocutor sits, a little leaning back, thus increasing the distance between them. The man's hand propps his head, the index finger is on his cheek, and the little finger touches his lips a little. Such a gesture is recognized as a sign of doubt, expressing a distrustful position in relation to the words of the interlocutor.

Non-verbal communication is a form of communication without the use of speech, as such, that is, with the help of gestures, movements, facial expressions, emotional voice, waving and symbols. On the actions of a person, his reactions, facial expressions, gait, it's easy to put together an idea of his character, the manner in which he acts, and his assessment of what is happening. The cases illustrated are only a small fraction of what can be learned by looking at the behavior of people and having studied everything about non-verbal communication. Do not forget about your own behavior. Do not avoid sympathy symbols, but do not show embarrassment and indecision.
