Are there any real men now?

Many women ask themselves whether there really are real men. From the point of view of evolution, modern society is a rather strange entity, social mechanisms distort or replace the behavioral reactions inherent in nature. Scientific and technological progress has led to a radical change in people's way of life, respectively, the type of man who enjoyed success with the opposite sex at the dawn of mankind and who is popular now, radically differ.

Many people think that the existence of real men begins with the age of chivalry. But it is not, they were at all times. Are there any real men now? Of course! But they look completely different than the real man of the past.

A real man in Ancient Greece is Zeus, a mighty male who, in fits of rage, throws lightning and changes his heavenly wife Hera to the right and left with earthly women. As they say on the Internet today, he was "stupid and brutal."

In the Middle Ages, in the image of a real man, there are very different features, the features of a gentleman. A knight must be clever, resourceful, clever, gallant with the other sex. the appearance of these qualities is due to social specificity. The fact is that according to medieval customs, all lands were given to a senior heir, the average son went to a monastery (the career of a monk was then considered very prestigious), and the younger got a horse and a sword. Their only hope of returning to the usual circle was a successful marriage. Since that time, the cult of the Beautiful Lady has gone, in the image of the ideal man, care, participation, attention to the woman begin to appear. But even the closest to the ideal knights of that time were very far from the image of a modern culture created in the mind of a woman.

The then "real man" was perfectly able to take care of women, but after marriage, all the features of a jealous and unfaithful husband were manifested in him. This is due to the fact that the divorce proceedings were highly discredited by the church and only large feudal lords and kings had a chance to divorce. And we should not forget about social inequality, the knight could gracefully take care of the lady for months, but at the same time every day the peasants take the power, and this was considered to be in the order of things. Industriousness was not included in the list of male virtues, knights in modern terms led an idle life. The only thing that stood for them was war, hunting and knight tournaments.

Mind and education in the number of virtues that should have real men, fell in the Renaissance. At that time, the idea of harmonious development of the personality dominated: both spiritual and physical. If previously reading and awareness were considered no more than a fad, now they have become a sign of a real man.

In the 17th century, with the spread of Protestantism in Europe, diligence entered into the number of necessary qualities. I must say, diligence as the quality of this man formed in the public consciousness is one of the latest, and it is not necessary to blame the modern representatives of the "stronger sex" in that they do everything they can to avoid domestic duties, preferring to lie on the couch and watch TV. The neatness and purity of the body entered a number of requirements for this man relatively recently, around the beginning of the 18th century. This is due, first of all, to urbanization: in the countryside it is impossible to maintain the purity of the body all the time, and there is no need. And in cities with population crowding and the possibility of rapid spread of various diseases, maintaining the purity of the body has become a measure of social success.

Now a real man should not only possess all the listed qualities, he must have technical skills: be able to drive a car, handle household appliances from an electric shaver to a computer, work on the Internet. What will be next?

Thus, as social development appeared, all the new features appeared in the image of a real man, and the later this or that quality got on the list, the fewer men it now corresponds to. Yes, we found out whether there are now real men: they are, but they are vanishingly small and one must be truly a real woman to have a chance to meet and keep him next to him. In the end, how to marry a general? Look for the promising lieutenant and help him make a career!
