Living in a natural habitat, barracudas lead a predatory life. They eat small fish, shrimp and squid. Sometimes they hunt in packs. Adult barracudas are hunted singly. Barracuda body elongated, scales small, dorsal fins short, wide mouth with large, sharp teeth. For a person, barracuda is not dangerous. Barracuda, as, indeed, other types of sea fish, is extremely useful for the human body.
Scientists have proved that fish, other seafood and meat provide the human body with a protein that does not replace anything else. Natural protein is especially needed for the developing organism (people under 25), and whatever the vegetarians say, at a young age it is simply necessary. Meat is used for young barracudas up to 60 cm in size and weighing up to 1.5 kg. Barracuda meat is very tasty. For example, in Japan this meat is highly valued for its taste, and in Australia, barracuda is considered a national dish. It is eaten raw, it also undergoes processing until completely unrecognizable and is served to the table necessarily in combination with sauce and rice.
Fish products are absorbed faster in the human body than from meat. This is due to the fact that the fish contains less coarse connective tissue, and during heat treatment it loses not more than 20% of the liquid. Thanks to this, the prepared cooked fish turns out to be very juicy and tender. Again, for these reasons, fish is considered an easily digestible product, and it is often used in children's and dietary foods.
Barracuda contains all the necessary amino acids: lysine, methionine, tryptophan. But the most valuable amino acid is taurine. It regulates blood sugar levels, stimulating insulin secretion, and prevents the development of hypertension.
Barracuda is rich in valuable fats. Fish oil remains liquid even at low temperatures and is therefore better absorbed. In fish oil, many polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are popularly called omega-3. These fats like vitamins can not be produced by themselves in the body, and their absence can cause illness. Omega-3 is part of a group of substances that are responsible for blood clotting. Fats have the properties to dissolve cholesterol, reduce the likelihood of thrombophlebitis, stroke, heart attack, psoriasis, sclerosis. Such common diseases as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, atherosclerosis, weakness of the immune system are associated with a deficiency of omega-3. People who regularly use omega-3 have good eyesight and are long-livers. In the barracuda meat contains important for the body vitamins A, D, E, F, iodine, selenium and some antioxidants.
The adult barracuda reaches two meters long. Since it feeds on plankton containing toxic dinoflagellates, and consumes venomous puffers, meat is unsuitable for food and very poisonous. The poisoning with siguatoxin lies in the fact that it can cause a barracuda, which was still perfectly healthy yesterday. The first signs of poisoning: numbness of lips and tongue, metallic taste in the mouth, after a certain time - abdominal resuscitation, pain in the muscles of the limbs and joints. And the most characteristic sign is a wrong skin sensation of the temperature of the environment: cold objects appear hot, and heated - cold. The larger the fish, the more toxins in it, especially in the head, liver, caviar and milk. Exotic poison is not destroyed when heated and frozen and not digested by gastric juice. When you drink alcohol, the effect of poison increases. That's it, a barracuda fish, whose useful properties are known to few.
