Your body, if you care about it, will tell you what food is worth eating. Imagine that you discarded the advice from the outside and turned to your own organism with the question of literate nutrition and diet. But how to determine what your inner voice is advising you, and what is just a harmful eating habit?
In matters of nutrition, we are accustomed to rely on advice and recommendations from surrounding people. The root of this habit is to be looked for in childhood, when it was not we who decided what and when to eat, but our parents. However, this habit lives in us at 20, 30 and 40 ... We read articles and books about healthy nutrition, watch videos and programs on this topic, but do not listen to our own body. And we were frankly imposed by the standards of nutrition: the optimal time and composition of breakfast, the best time for lunch and so on. As a consequence, we positively rely on the advice of various gurus and experts and fully trust their diet with them. But will you find at least one expert who knows what and when you need to eat specifically for you?
A serious problem - the external environment influences our thoughts and feelings
And what happens if you still entrust internal wisdom?
- You will understand why you prefer these or those dishes, and finally you can control your choice. There is a misconception that if you allow yourself to do anything, it will end up eating sweets in an embrace with a sofa. This is not true. A healthy organism will not ask for harmful dishes. Yes, our body is able to digest both good and bad foods in a healthy state. But the body does not want to become heavy or sick. The organism aspires to the most healthy condition. However, the external factors and characteristics of the taste buds, which are affected by sweet, salty or peppery foods, control our food cravings. This is an important point when you need to understand why you want to eat this or that product: the inner voice prompted you, or the reason in psychological or other imbalances? Food preferences should be passed through the perceptual filter: would your distant ancestors use this? Did they eat anything like that in their time? A negative answer will mean that this is clearly not the inner wisdom prompts you, but something else. When the next time the body asks you for a cookie, ask the question, did your ancient ancestor eat biscuits? Such awareness will help to understand what is the reason for such unhealthy desires.
- And the most important thing is that due to awareness, you will have time between an unhealthy impulse and its satisfaction. Awareness is equal to attention, presence, during which you do not try to understand or comprehend something, but rather the opposite - you simply observe the reaction of your body. When you once again want to drink coffee or eat sweetness, inner awareness will help to pause and speculate. During this pause, you either decide to follow the true call of your body, or succumb to the external temptation that controls you almost all your life. If not for this pause, you would react instantly. Only then, after the action, we realize that we ate something harmful, start blaming ourselves, we stop trusting ourselves. There would be this pause - there would be an informed choice. Scientists confirm that conscious nutrition helps to reduce portion sizes, and the pleasure of eating increases. And more importantly, there is trust between the body and the mind. The brain and body are partners who are destined to always be together. However, we are accustomed to feeding the body, focusing on our thoughts, looking at the monitor or smartphone, hurrying, not paying attention to taste and sensations. Consciousness needs to be developed. In this it is like a muscle. The more often you apply it, the stronger you become. A conscious diet is not enough to know, it is necessary to practice it regularly.
