Carving, roses from roasted potatoes

A delicious dish often turns out not in the exact following of the recipe, but in the mood and ingenuity of the hostess. Say that you can surprise with potatoes, and many will laugh, having presented absolutely prosaic vegetable in which for many nationalities there is nothing exotic. It would seem that you can still come up with more than 2000 dishes from potatoes already, but remember how the heroine of the movie "Girls" Tonya Kislitsyn proved with fervor that potatoes are not just cooked and eaten! Sometimes, the situation spurs the imagination, and it gives birth to a new dish. Carving: roses from roasted potatoes - a beautiful dish or even tasty? We advise you to try it!

Roses from potatoes have their own history. Now we do not remember the times when meat and sausage went to Moscow. It was difficult to think up something for the festive table from what is growing in the garden. Delicacies, of course, were absent, but potatoes were abundant. Many people remembered how once on a flower festival, roses were cut out of vegetables, and decided to impress the imagination of a gourmet if not by the delicacy of dishes, then by their originality. The highlight of the festive feast was to become roasted roses.

We clear the potatoes more evenly and cut out the petals in a circular motion. Cut the first rose, in the upper part made a groove, which then put a piece of lard. Further all is easier, the skill has appeared.

Cut the fried roses in vegetable oil in a frying pan until you have a delicious rouge, salt and in the oven, make it ready. It remained only beautiful to put all this on a dish, decorate with greens and leaves, carved from cucumbers. The potato turned out to be crunchy on top with a tender flesh inside, and the bacon had time to turn into a meltdown in the mouth.

And now we are introducing a dish of hot roses, our gourmet is looking with surprise and carefully puts one rose on his plate. It is necessary to see how the expression of his face will change, but we understand by the animated facial expression that the surprise dinner was a success.

Now I recommend this recipe in a few cases: you need someone to surprise, you want to overcome the dull monotony, and, finally, this is an excellent way to overcome the craving for computers and the Internet.

So, for the preparation of the dish, we need potatoes (the quantity is determined on our own), lard, vegetable oil for frying, salt. For decorating cucumbers and greens.

We choose as round potatoes as possible, we clean them. We cut the plate from one side, making an even platform. From this plane cut into a circle of petals, under them in a circle we remove a thin shaving so that the petals unfold. The next row of petals is cut in such a way that they are in the intervals of the previous row. Again we clean under them a thin strip, further still petals in intervals - and so to the very top. At the top of the rose, with the tip of a thin knife, we drill a cavity into which we put a slice of fresh, salted or smoked bacon, which can be frozen for convenience in a potato flower. Prepared in this way, "roses" fry in vegetable oil in a frying pan until a ruddy brown. We spread the "roses" on a baking tray, salt and bake in the oven. Readiness is checked with a toothpick or pointed match.

Prepared potatoes are placed beautifully on a dish, decorating with leaves from salted or fresh cucumber and twigs of greens.

The chips left from the cutting of roses can also be used to make other dishes.

If the process of carving roses seems to you too time-consuming, you can limit yourself to the usual round potatoes, just filling it with bacon. As an option - instead of fat you can use finely chopped minced meat. This is already the desire and initiative of the mistress herself.
