Does it make sense to learn a foreign language from infancy?

A foreign language in our country is studied and studied by everyone - they know its units. This is already a tradition. Foreign language is taught for many years at school, then at the institute - as a result, a person can not often maintain a simple conversation with a native speaker. Sometimes it is even possible to hear the opinion that the Russians are largely unable to learn foreign languages.

Recently, there have been changes for the better. Many young people actively and successfully master a foreign language. They reasonably suggest that the possession of a foreign language (and preferably not one) is the key to a successful career.

There is no point in talking about the role in a modern life of a foreign language. These are the opportunities for career growth, and the communicative component of a successful person.

Needless to say, motivation plays a decisive role in learning a foreign language.

Under the influence of public opinion in schools, the study of foreign languages was moved to an earlier stage. Did the expected effect? The question is controversial. To domestic education a lot of questions. Some of them are being solved, some are waiting for their decision. This also applies to the study of a foreign language.

Is there an exit?

Many parents tend to attach their child to learning a foreign language as early as possible. In this article, we are not talking about parents who are capable of giving birth to a baby nanny, a governess - native speakers; in the aftermath of the regular export of the child abroad. No, it's about parents with average statistical capabilities.

So, you want your child to know the language well. What opportunities do you have available?

First , many kindergartens provide an opportunity to study in groups with a teacher. Two - three times a week the teacher comes to the group and "plays" with the children in a foreign language. Do you believe that you can learn to communicate in a foreign language? Although it can not be denied that, at least, it is not harmful for the child's overall development, to stimulate his communication skills. Unfortunately, the author did not have the chance to see the children engaged in such groups and mastered at least the minimum skills of foreign-language communication. They could smartly call the toy animals, say their name, for how many years ... And, as a rule, everything.

The second option: classes with a tutor. Individual education or training in micro-groups (2-3 people) certainly has its advantages. It is necessary to put a clear task before the tutor. Those. maybe you want the child to prepare for learning a foreign language at school: he knew the letters, distinguished syllables, learned to read; maybe you want to develop communication skills in a foreign language: to teach to speak on certain topics. The task should be formulated very clearly, so that at the output you suddenly get not what you planned. Not the least role is played by the qualifications of the teacher.

The third option is that you yourself will communicate with your child in a foreign language. Children in many countries of the two - and even trilingual. To this they are prompted by the environment: in many states, several languages are used. There are families where the mother speaks the same language, the father - on the other. This is the presence of a strong motivation, conducive to learning the language. Do you want to teach your child a foreign language? The underwater stone here is one - your knowledge of the language. Knowledge of the language at the level of "secondary school" can make it extremely difficult for your child to learn a foreign language in the future. Often, the teacher gets children with an absolutely incorrect pronunciation. To fix it is much more difficult than to teach it from the beginning. Here parents should be guided by the principle "do no harm". If you are confident in your knowledge of the language - then this is one of the preferred options.

An example in the subject: the teacher of French spoke with the daughter only in French, and my mother in Russian. Result: a bilingual child. Plus, add the English that she studied at school.

To help children, lessons are possible on additional courses. Today there are quite a lot of them. We strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with the training program and the qualitative composition of the teachers before the classes begin. The presence of native speakers as teachers is welcomed.

Conclusion: the study of a foreign language (and preferably not one) is welcome. It is only necessary to pinpoint the goals and find the best ways to achieve them.
