Dogs that cause an allergy in a child

There is an opinion that among the variety of breeds there are dogs that cause allergies in the child. They say that short-haired dogs do not represent a danger in this regard, but strongly molding breeds on the contrary. However, according to laboratory research, this is not the case at all.

Dogs belonging to the same breed can excrete allergens of different levels. The problem is not with the coat, since the allergy develops in response to dead skin cells, urine and saliva. That is, the matter is not at all connected with the length of the dog's hair, any dog is a potential source of allergens.

Why does the dog's hair allergy in the child? This is due to the fact that in children suffering from allergies, the immune system is very sensitive. The organism reacts sharply to any harmful substances like it reacts to microbes. And eye irritation and sneezing are attempts by the body to fight and destroy the allergen.

In order to determine if the child has an allergy to dogs, you need to do an analysis.

For this, a blood test or a skin test should be done. This is called radioallergosorbent test. The analysis will help determine whether allergic reactions really develop on dogs, rather than on mold or pollen that they carry on wool.

An allergic test is considered effective, but it is not final. Do not be surprised if the doctor suggests that you and your child live for a while without a dog and watch his health during this period. This will take about a month. During this time, the level of accumulation of wool in your apartment should decrease to the same level as in a house where you do not have a dog.

It is shown that there are no such breeds of dogs that do not cause allergies. In the opinion of allergic doctors, if a person is prone to allergies, then it can be provoked by a representative of any breed. It was revealed that the main allergen of the dog's epidermis, the so-called Can F1, is excreted by all dogs. But its number is not the same for representatives of different breeds.

Doctors fix most often epidermal allergy in dog breeders. This means that their immunity reacts to dandruff, dog hair as the main allergens having epidermal origin. However, it should be remembered that allergenic activity is present in saliva, in the urine, and in the excrement of animals, which means that any pet or bird can cause allergies.

Animal allergens are the most common allergens in our lives.

Manifestations of allergies are varied. It can manifest with allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, dermatitis, urticaria, bronchial asthma.

On the other hand, even if there are no breeds of dogs that are safe for an allergic person, you can get yourself a pet by targeting a dog with a low level of excretion Can F1. Of course, representatives of the breed, who do not have molting, will not have a strong effect on health. It can be, for example, a Yorkshire terrier. But such dogs require regular haircuts and serious care for six.

Chinese crested, Mexican naked or other hairless dogs compensate for the lack of hair with high secretory activity of the sebaceous glands. They sweat much more shaggy dogs, so they need frequent washing and regular skin care.

Less allergen and hair of wire-haired breeds, for example, schnauzer, terrier (kerry blue, wheat, black, scotch). They practically do not have a molting process, despite the thick and long coat, which requires constant visits to hairdressers.

Trimming, haircut, washing will significantly reduce the level of allergen.

Poodle, Maltese lap dog, bedlington terrier, Portuguese water dog, bichon also belong to low allergenic breeds.

However, always remember that when you plant a pet of one of these breeds, you still can not get rid of the child's allergy forever, but significantly reduce the likelihood of its development.
