Find a destination: advice from Barbara Cher

She alone raised two children, worked hard and managed to make ends meet. And almost 45 years - when to start something new, as it were a bit late - I wrote my first book. And since then she started another life ...

... The book of Barbara Cher "Dreaming is not harmful" for 35 years. This is translated into Russian for the first time, but in other countries it is still a bestseller. And why? Therefore, it seems that new generations no less than the previous ones need someone to pay attention to their dreams, their vague fantasies and desires and clearly suggested how to turn them into reality, how to find their destination. We suggest you right now to do five exercises from the book by Barbara Cher "Dreaming is not harmful", which will help you determine your favorite thing.

Exercise 1: Return to childhood

All the gurus of destination converge in one thing: most people have talents for a particular cause manifested in early childhood. Of course, as a child, a person can not say for sure that he wants to become an inventor of the hadronic collider, but, most likely, he definitely shows interest in the invention of something. Remember what did you like to do most in your childhood? Maybe you liked drawing, or you were fascinated by planes, or maybe you liked to come up with new games? Well-known TV presenter Oprah Winfrey, for example, likes to tell how, in her childhood, she put the dolls in a row and interviewed them. Write at least five sessions that you liked to do as a child. If you can not remember, then ask your mother, father, elder brother, uncle or aunt.

Exercise 2: 20 favorite activities

The key to your own destiny is necessarily through some favorite occupation. That is, your destination simply can not be some kind of thing, which for you, say, is disgusting. Take a sheet and a pen and write 20 of your favorite activities. Moreover, this list can include even those classes that seem banal to you (for example, "eating deliciousness"). Lessons should be at least 20. After the list is compiled, you need to do two things. First: to find patterns. Look, what are the leading directions in your list? Maybe it is the case that is associated with helping people or some kind of sports activities? Or, perhaps, you understand that you are fascinated by cooking? And the second thing to do with this list. Ask yourself: what of this whole is I ready to study in detail. For example, you wrote: "I love drinking coffee." You are ready to thoroughly study the coffee culture, coffee varieties and so on. If yes, then, perhaps, your purpose, indeed, is connected with creating a special coffee franchise.

Exercise 3. Who surrounds me

Imagine this situation: you have the right for one day to surround yourself with such people as you want. You wake up in the morning and the city is filled with people under your request. What kind of people will this be? What qualities should they possess? Maybe you want to be surrounded by people all the time, "Einsteins", or "Dalai Lama"? Or do you want to see actors, singers, musicians in your environment? What are you talking about with these people? Why are you interested in them? Remember that the environment is an important element in the formation of your destiny.

Exercise 4. Five Lives

Another fantasy exercise. Imagine that you have five lives. And each of them you can live on your own, but with every life you need to devote one profession. What professions will these be? As soon as you do this exercise, you will realize that there are many talents in you and, for sure, you will choose for all five lives a completely different profession. Most likely, the run will be from some serious scientist to a pop singer. And this is absolutely normal! For example, Albert Einstein, as is known, was not only a brilliant physicist, but also a brilliant violinist! He played the violin from childhood and sometimes even spoke to his students.

Exercise 5. A day at 5+

And now let's think: what is your ideal day? You need to go through your imagination and understand where, with whom, what do you do during your ideal day? Where do you wake up? What do you wear? Where do you go first? What are your thoughts during the day. Think this day in full detail. Do not limit your imagination. Excellent! And now let's do the following. It will be necessary to divide your dreams of an ideal day into three categories: "what is really necessary," "which of the above is desirable, but not necessary," and "pampering." Only the first category of affairs, things and activities will show you what is really important to you and where your mission may be hidden. About all exercises in more detail and how to achieve goals, you can find out in the book "Dreaming is not harmful"
