Furunculosis: the causes of the onset.

More often furuncles can arise at insignificant pollution, microtraumas of an integument, because of the broken metabolism, the raised diaphoresis. Also, there is a possibility of the formation of boils when eating unhealthy foods and reduced immunity.

Stresses, abnormal temperature regime (significant hypothermia or overheating of the body), the presence of foci of infectious diseases, including chronic ones, diseases of the endocrine and urinary systems - all this can lead to the appearance of purulent furuncles. Also, allergic people may also be at their appearance.

Symptoms and course of furunculosis.

Furunculosis occurs in areas of skin with hair and can be accompanied by painful sensations of varying degrees.

The first sign is the appearance of redness and the development of an inflammatory infiltrate of bright red color. Over time, surrounding tissues begin to swell, the infiltrate increases in size, and pain appears. Within 3 days, a purulent-necrotic stem is formed, with the dissection of which pus is released, possibly with an admixture of blood.

With the correct opening of the boil and the removal of all purulent contents, the necrotic stem is soon rejected, after which the puffiness disappears.

Consequences of furunculosis.

Furuncles that arise in the areas of the nasolabial fold, upper lip, nose and eye area can lead to serious complications, such as inflammation of the dura mater. And it later can lead to an acute form of purulent meningitis. Especially dangerous complications include sepsis and thrombophlebitis in severely expressed form. They can occur when trying to squeeze out the furuncles (before their maturation), or as a result of accidental removal.
