History of the German style .
The history of the German style began in the middle of the XIX century. Artists of Germany and Austria, trying to revive the style of "Empire", mixing the style of "troubadour" and elements of "Gothic" created the style of "Biedermeier." The origin of the style is associated with the Vienna Congress of 1815: the war is over, and people want to return to a calm, homely, measured life. Men returned home from the front, and Europe was swept by a wave of marriages and the birth of children. This was the period of the revival of the middle class and the heyday of the bourgeoisie. Out of fashion come the halls with sculptures of antique heroes and picture galleries with biblical subjects - all heroic and pathos.

The foundations of the modern German style were laid in the thirties of the last century by painter and architect Walter Gropius and employees of the Bauhaus art school. With Gropius worked such famous avant-gardists, as Kandinsky, Klee and Feininger. The total denial of the rule of philistine tastes and eclecticism united the workers of the Bauhaus. Their activities were aimed at developing universal principles for the formation of certain forms, common for architecture and design.
