After birth: the first sex, the first monthly

The long-awaited moment of a nine-month wait arrived - a desired and charming child was born. Before you, a lot of new tasks that require the acquisition of certain skills. Your life has changed, and not only ... Radical changes have been felt on yourself and your body. Nine months of constant transformation and change, and now - a backlash, requiring a return to its own.

The main aspects of female health after childbirth are the first sex, the first menstruation. When it is possible to return to active sexual life and when regular women's critical days will come, without which a childbearing function is impossible? Let's consider the question in more detail.

First sex after childbirth

Beginning of sexual relations in the puerperium

The average norm that doctors recommend to women in childbirth is 6-8 weeks postpartum abstinence from sexual relations (in the absence of birth complications). If there are problems during childbirth, then this period is agreed with the doctor, depending on the situation. Therefore, impatient husbands it is advisable to warn in advance about the need to withstand the deadline, because the health of the newly mum is in the first place, at the same time as the health of the newborn. Ideally, before starting sexual relations, you need to undergo an examination of the gynecologist and get from him "good" for these relationships. Too early resumption of intimate relationships can lead to inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs, which is highly undesirable.

Possible problems

The first sex after childbirth is sometimes associated with the first time, as with the loss of virginity. Everything is explained by the fact that a woman, like during the first sexual intercourse, does not know what feelings will be, and is often afraid to relax. The problem is further aggravated if an episiotomy (cut of the perineum to avoid arbitrary ruptures and traumatism of the fetus) was performed during labor. Then the woman is afraid of possible pain and repeated ruptures. The long absence of sexual intercourse before the birth and in the postpartum period, which on average can be about two months or more, also leaves its imprint on the intimate perception of a woman.

Another important problem of intimate relationships after childbirth is the dryness of the vagina. The cause of this discomfort, first of all, is the change in the hormonal background of a woman. If a woman feeds a baby, such changes in the vaginal wall may be present until the menstrual function is restored. The problem is greatly helped to solve long-term preliminary caresses, including oral, as well as the use of lubricants.

Restoration of menstrual function in the puerperium

"When will my periods begin?" - this question is asked by most newly-made mothers. But just this question does not have a concrete, thorough answer. For each, this period is purely individual. At one of my friends at preservation of thoracal feeding "on demand" monthly have renewed in eight months after sorts, and here at me personally at the same character of maintenance of a lactemia and in 10,5 months after sorts or labors they are not present. That is, I want to say that for some, the norm of restoring menstrual function is 2-3 months after childbirth, for others - more than a year. If you do not feed the baby, then for you the rate roughly coincides with the date of the beginning of the first intimate relationships. If the lactation stopped several months after the birth, menstruation resumes for about two months, starting from this period. The main point in this matter is not the period through which the critical days will appear, but the elimination of possible problems.

Character of the monthly after delivery

As mentioned above, during the delivery the body undergoes significant physiological and hormonal changes. These changes may further affect the menstrual function. I note, often for the better. Very often after the birth, menstrual period become regular, less painful, normal menstrual blood loss stabilizes.

The menstrual cycle in many women after childbirth is restored either immediately, or after 2-3 consecutive cycles.

Possible problems

Among the problems that can arise when restoring menstrual function in the postpartum period, we can distinguish the following:

  1. The cycle did not recover over 2-3 consecutive menstruations.
  2. Monthly do not resume within two months after cessation of breastfeeding. Possible causes of this condition are a new pregnancy or postpartum complications.
  3. Change in the nature of the menstrual cycle in the negative direction: irregular, painful or profuse menstruation.

Any negative moments in the nature of menstrual function require attention from the woman and timely examination and advice of a specialist.

It is important not to forget that after giving birth a woman is obliged to watch and take care not only of her child, but also to harmonize such important aspects of her life as the first sex and the first menstruation.
