How to check the quality of essential oil

This essential oil during the sessions of aromatherapy brings great health benefits. But, unfortunately, in the market of essential substances, natural oils make up only 4%, the remaining 96% are products manufactured using aroma synthesis technology. Many manufacturers of oils knowingly use this method for production. A useful effect from the use of such substitutes will come hardly. We will talk about how to check the quality of essential oil and distinguish it from a fake one.

How to choose a quality essential oil

This essential oil is characterized by the following criteria: it is homogeneity, transparency, lack of sediment, the presence of an even fine natural flavor, without technical impurities, such as acetone, alcohol. Natural oils are poured into bottles of dark glass, ranging from five to ten milliliters, except for expensive ones, which can be packed in 1-2 ml bottles because of the high price. The cost of essential oil determines the value, the rarity of essential oil plants, the percentage of oil in it, the difficulties in growing it.

As it was said before, this essential oil is poured only in bottles of glass, namely dark brown color. Glasses of blue, violet, green colors do not interfere with the penetration of sunlight and at the same time its rays can exert a destructive effect on the components of the oil.

On the label, pasted on the bottle, "100% natural essential oil" should be indicated. The rest of the information does not bear data about the content belonging to natural essential oil. It is desirable that on the tag the name of the plant from which the essential oil was obtained was indicated in Latin. When choosing an essential oil, be careful - the presence on the label of an orange square with a black cross warns that this oil is not suitable for aromatherapy. Use it only for domestic purposes, for example, to remove unpleasant odors in shoes, cabinets, etc.

The main determining criterion in the selection of essential oil is the sense of smell. Surely you will think that if you have never used essential oils, you can hardly understand, check the quality and distinguish natural oil from synthetic oil. This is difficult at first glance. If desired, you can quickly recognize the essential oils for quality. To do this, analyze the products of several companies. We advise you to buy geranium oil or ylang ylang from several manufacturers - these oils are not produced by chemical means. Use each of them for aromatherapy sessions and choose the most suitable for effectiveness. By such a unique test, you independently determine the company that produces exactly natural essential oil.

How not to check the quality of essential oils.

There is an erroneous opinion that if natural essential oil is dripped onto paper, it must quickly and completely disappear from its surface. Think, this quality is inherent in acetone, that is, if a drop of oil evaporates instantly, it is uniquely prepared on the basis of synthetic products such as hexane, benzene, etc. Of the real natural essential oils, only oils made from citrus fruits evaporate fairly quickly. All the rest pass this process rather slowly, leaving behind an oily stain, painted with pigments.

The next myth is a test for allergy. There is an opinion that a drop of oil applied to the skin of the elbow bend should not cause any allergic reaction - such as redness of the skin. This check is a complete delusion, it is not worth checking the quality of the oil in this way. Many natural essential oils contain a large number of trace elements, which, if ingested on the skin, can cause increased blood circulation. Therefore, because of their high concentration, they are not recommended for use in pure form, applied to the skin, that is, before use, it is desirable to dilute with any vegetable oil - olive, soybean, etc.
