How to choose a sunblock

Summer comes, many people leave for a vacation on the sea, but do not care about sunscreen, taking with them only sunglasses, a fashionable hat and a beach umbrella. And modern medicine relentlessly warns about the harm of ultraviolet rays and possible cancer diseases. Therefore, you just need to know how to tan properly, and of course, this includes the use of sunscreen. Of course, it is not superfluous to buy it in advance.

Which sunscreen should I buy?

Excessive exposure to the sun can lead not only to severe burns, but also cause skin diseases. The influence of ultraviolet rays is useful (promote metabolism and improve blood circulation in the skin), but for this you need to stay in the sun for no more than 15 minutes.

And for sunbathing on the beach, you just need extra protection. Here's what you need to know about sunscreens. On the tube should be applied the index of protection SPF from ultraviolet radiation of type "B" and UVA - from beams of type "A": the larger the number, the correspondingly, the greater the level of protection. Although some manufacturers slightly overestimate these values. A useful component in the cream is vitamin E, which makes the skin less susceptible to ultraviolet light. To choose a cream with a suitable level of protection, you need to determine your phototype (there are only six).

The first type is blue-eyed blondes (blondes) and red-haired people with fair skin. Their skin does not burn, but burns. Such people are generally not recommended to sunbathe, but if the rest does not seem to be without the sea, then it is better to choose the maximum protection. For example, SPF-60 and UVA-16.

The second phototype is people with the same hair color as the first, but with brown or gray eyes. In this case, the situation is slightly easier: the risk of burning remains, but if in the first few days to use a sunscreen with maximum protection, then in the future you can more safely be in the sun. After the appearance of sunburn protection can even be weakened to SPF-20 depending on the individual characteristics.

The third type is brown-eyed people with chestnut or dark-brown hair and fair skin. This phototype is the most common and freely sunbathing. But in order to protect yourself from burns in the first days, it is better to use a cream with maximum protection, and after sunburn, go to the SPF-15 index.

People with chestnut hair, brown eyes and not very bright skin can safely refer themselves to the third phototype. This type is the most common in Russia. Brown-eyed shatens sunbathe quite successfully, often even without the stage of redness. But all the same to neglect protective creams it is not necessary. For people belonging to the third phototype, means with an SPF index of 15 units are suitable.

Brunettes with dark eyes and swarthy skin are usually referred to the fourth phototype. As a rule, such people sunbathe evenly and do not need special protection. But still the use of sunscreen for prevention and additional moisturizing of the skin will not be superfluous. Recommended level of protection SPF-6.

The fifth type includes people with dark hair and very dark skin, most often they are Hindus and natives of northern Africa. In principle, you can use a sunblock with a minimum level of protection. The skin of these people in itself is already protected, and therefore never burns.

For people belonging to the sixth phototype, it is advised to use a moisturizer. These include Africans, whose dark skin does not need protection.

Application of cream

To make the suntan cream as useful as possible, remember some simple rules for using it. The simplest and most important rule is to apply the cream in advance, and not when you are already on the beach. Particular attention should be paid to the protruding parts of the body (nose, shoulders, chest). A person should be protected from the very first days of spring. Apply the cream in a circular motion with a uniform layer throughout the body. Too much layer will only be harmful. After three or four bathing, it is necessary to apply the cream again. Even if it is water-repellent, the cream will still come off after an intense wipe by a towel. Recommended time for tanning in the morning and evening hours. And do not forget to take sunglasses with you to the beach to protect especially sensitive skin in the eye area.

A small, but important detail when buying sunscreen - shelf life. Check it just in case. And pay attention to the smell, because the rest should be pleasant for you entirely.

Have a good rest by the sea, sunbathe under the bright friendly sun!
