A team of miniature aliens manages a spaceship that has a human form. Trying to save their planet, foreigners face a new problem, as their "ship" falls in love with an earthly woman.

Recent years have become a complete disappointment for the once-popular comedian Eddie Murphy. Last year's "Dodge Norbit" is confirmed. To the spectators, the charming and funny actor first of all was remembered by the class comedies: "The policeman from Beverly Hills", "The trip to America", "The Nutty Professor" and "Doctor Doolittle". To say this about "Meet Dave" is not necessary. The new film from Murphy turned out to be an ordinary movie for family viewing.

The plot was not so much, although the idea itself deserves attention. Angry Lilliputians from another planet come to Earth in the form of an original spaceship with unkind intentions. The aliens want to find a probe lost on our planet and use it to suck the World Ocean in order to extract all the salt - the necessary source of energy. The most interesting thing is that this ship is Dave (Eddie Murphy), a robot man, in the head of which sits a whole team of aliens. Quite comical are the moments when "Dave" tries to get acquainted with the customs of the Earth, in particular New York and its inhabitants. For little newcomers, Dave becomes a safe hiding place. Even when he is hit by a car, Dave gets up and goes on. The insidious plans of the Lilliputians are not so easy to realize in the modern world. The whole reason is the little boy Josh and his mother Jean (Elizabeth Banks), making Dave remind us of the humanity, feelings and joys of life. Ridiculous situations sometimes give rise to comical situations, and then the aliens in Dave's mind have to be twisted to the fullest. For the alien "invaders" the kindness of earthlings is like a bolt from the blue. The situation goes out of control when a kind of controlled robot falls head over heels in love with Jean's pretty dugout, completely forgetting about the mission.

Despite the frankly children's script, there are also episodes in the movies that clearly fell into place. Will not the emotions of adults be aroused by shots from Frank Capra's black and white film "This Beautiful Life", in which the aliens first learn about emotions and feelings. The creators rigorously joked about the inventions of our century - Google, MySpace and the terrible Britney Spears. Such attempts to arouse the interest of the viewer are not bad, but the excessive emphasis on the hero of Murphy causes a feeling of satiety and boredom. Of course, "Meet: Dave" is the film of one actor, the only star on the set.

Eddie Murphy has not lost his talent yet, but it's clear that the fire in his eyes has faded. There are no more bright roles, when every movement, gesture or phrase provoked audience laughter, and the protagonist's outbursts from "Journey to America" are still amusing and rightfully remain one of the best in the movie. You should pay tribute to the comedian - the original jokes though not observed, but there is no vulgarity and "toilet" humor.

The film about the alien Dave, first of all, is addressed to children, and Eddie Murphy will amuse them with his adventures more than once.
