Nutrition of the first year of life: lure

When Mom begins to slowly introduce the baby to dishes from vegetables and fruits, a lot of questions arise before her: when, how much and how to cook? Indeed, these are very important questions. So, the nutrition of the first year of life: complementary food - the topic of conversation for today.

So, it's time to give the kid a lure. First you regaled the crumb with juices - a droplet after a drop, but now it's time to introduce the child to new dishes - fruit and vegetable purees. Meat and fish will enter the gastronomic chorus much later.

The new products, which in no way can replace the main food of the baby-mother's milk, are scientifically called "corrective nutritional supplements." They are necessary for the organism of the child to get enough vitamins and minerals. In time, the corrective additives will turn into a full-fledged lure that gradually as the baby grows up, it will displace breast milk or milk formula from the children's menu.

General rules of complementary feeding

♦ In the baby's menu, new foods should be introduced gradually: in liquid form - starting with a few drops, rubbed - a third of a teaspoon. You can gradually increase the portion for the next two weeks, bringing up to the amount corresponding to age. You need to keep in mind: a teaspoon holds 5 ml. liquid, dessert - 10 ml, dining room - 15 ml.

♦ First give the lure (vegetable or meat puree), and then feed the baby with a breast or a mixture of the bottle: the children better perceive new when hungry, and on a full stomach can give up unfamiliar food with an unusual taste. Juice and fruit puree offer after meals or in between feedings.

♦ In no case should the child give several unfamiliar dishes at once - should pass between their introduction for at least 2 weeks.

♦ Closely monitor the skin and stool of the child: redness on the cheeks, rash on the body, diarrhea or constipation may be signs of food intolerance. Talk to your doctor.

♦ Do not enter a new dish, if the baby is sick, he was just vaccinated and in summer in hot weather. The production of digestive juices in the heat decreases. Unfamiliar food is poorly digested.

♦ Did the child become ill (for example, caught a cold) in the first week after switching to a new dish? Stop giving it and wait for recovery. After that, acquaintance with unusual food will have to start anew.

♦ Artificials are prematurely transferred to "adult" food, because these children already have to get a foreign product - an artificial milk mixture, which is easier for them to get used to juices, fruit puree and other complementary foods, so they are introduced with a new meal on average 2 weeks earlier than breastfeeding. Feed the baby with unadapted meals from the children's milk kitchen? Supplementary feeding should be introduced earlier in agreement with the doctor.

Natural or from jars?

This is a difficult question. On the one hand, freshly squeezed juice or freshly squeezed apple is richer in "living" vitamins and does not contain preservatives, stabilizers or other additives, but they are also not trying to add to baby food, using natural methods of preservation - heat treatment, vacuum packing. juices, mashed potatoes and cereals impose missing vitamins, macro- and microelements, biologically active substances, that is, it is an ideal lure.In apples, potatoes, pumpkins, turnips, which you yourself have grown or bought, they may be missing. alivnom bullseye or Graystripe pumpkin from the market may show nitrates, herbicides, pesticides and other poisons which in any case should not be administered to the child.

Baby food, manufactured by industrial methods, undergoes strict environmental control, which means it is safe for the baby. Yes, and "living" vitamins - this is also controversial. If the fruit has just been torn off the branch, and the vegetable has been removed from the vegetable garden - then, of course, they are champions of vitamin composition, but they should lie down for a month or two, and useful substances begin to melt March snow.In children's food industry, vitamins and minerals are introduced into the finished mashed potatoes already at the final cooking stage.

Cooking our own lure

♦ If you decide to mash yourself, you need to take measures to exclude nitrates and other harmful substances that can be contained in vegetables and fruits. The food of the first year of life must be safe first. Do not regret - remove the as thick as possible layer of peel, remove the core from the carrot, and in the cabbage discard the cob and thick veins on the leaves adjacent to it. Be sure to add in puree unrefined vegetable oil (sunflower, corn or olive) - a teaspoon for 150 g.

♦ When making meals, it sometimes becomes necessary to add sugar or salt. It's easy to make a mistake, and the kid needs literally scanty doses of salt and sugar. To make mashed potatoes not too sweet or salty, take the trouble to prepare in advance the aqueous solutions of salt and sugar. They should be stored in the refrigerator tightly closed.

A solution of salt (25%)

It is necessary to take 100 ml of hot water and pour 25 g of salt, heat, stirring, boil for 5 minutes, filter through a double gauze. Then you need to top up the boiling water until you get 100 ml of the solution. Pre-rinse with a boiling water bottle and pour the solution there.

Sugar solution

100 g of sugar pour into a saucepan, pour 100 ml of water and simmer for 10 minutes, strain through a double gauze, add boiling water so that it turns out 100 ml, bring to a boil, pour into a sterile bottle, close the cork.

Canons of Children's Dietetics

♦ Fruit purees - they are fed into the diet of children, according to the recommendations of nutritionists, they are introduced only after acquaintance with the juice (in infants - at 6 months, and in artificial animals - a little earlier). The classical version is apple puree. Then comes the time of peach, plum, banana.

♦ Apple puree. Wash the apple green, rinse with boiling water, clean, grate on a plastic grater. If the apple is very sour, add sugar syrup at the rate of not more than a teaspoon per apple.

♦ Vegetable mashed potatoes, as a lure for cabbage 7 months, in the first 2 weeks is better to cook from one type of vegetables (so-called monopure) - from zucchini (with diathesis) or traditional potatoes. Then alternately add to the children's menu white cabbage and cauliflower, cabbage salad, pumpkin, in the absence of diathesis carrots. But with crumbs and tomatoes, the crumb gets acquainted in the last place, as well as with onions and garlic, not earlier than 10-11 months. When preparing mixed mashed potatoes, the share of potatoes should not be more than half of the total volume.

♦ Vegetables can be cooked steamed, in a microwave (all except potatoes) or baked in the oven - so less useful substances are destroyed.

♦ Mixed vegetable puree. Take: 1/2 potatoes, 1/8 leaf white cabbage, 1/4 small beets, 1 teaspoon chopped greens, 2 tablespoons of milk, 1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil (sunflower, olive), 1/4 teaspoon solution of salt.

Preparation: vegetables clean, chop and, if there is no steamer, fold in a pan, pour boiling water, cook, covering with a lid. Remove the hot vegetables with a muffin, chop the mixer, add milk, salt solution, oil. If the mashed potatoes are too thick, dilute it with a small amount of broth, where vegetables were cooked.

♦ Meat puree. We cook for babies 7-8 months of veal, lean beef (tenderloin), white chicken meat (breast), rabbit meat. Take: 100 grams of meat, 1/4 cup of broth, 1/2 teaspoon of butter, 1/4 teaspoon of salt solution.

Preparation: wash meat, remove tendons, cut into small pieces, pour cold water and cook until ready. Then grind with a blender or twice through a meat grinder, add broth, salt solution, boil, put oil in the end. Do not forget that with the transition of a crumb to an adult table, he will also need "adult" utensils. What it will be - really grown-up, from my mother's favorite service or special children's - is to choose you.The main thing is that it should be bright and beautiful, in childhood the foundation of good taste and sense of style are laid down. This is extremely important in the issue of feeding the first year of life - lure should be given special attention.
