Animation film "Fly to the Moon" was created to be shown in three-dimensional format in cinemas such as iMax (there still need to wear special polarizing glasses). We still do not have such happiness, but it promises to be soon: the first iMax intends to open in Kiev in late September 2008. But while civilization slowly and gradually reaches our latitudes, animation producers do not forget about us: "Fly to the Moon" is the first ever CGI film created for 3D display not only in iMax and Digital 3D, but in any cinema help technology anaglyph.

So, the first and main conclusion: the computerization of the planet has reached such a level that a full-fledged 3D-cartoon can be riveted today in almost any back room. What was previously mandatory - huge capacity, a server the size of a house, years of drawing and professional actors / gymnasts in the role of sitters - is now completely replaced by smart machines. The same as before was not considered especially necessary, such as: the talent of the designer, storyteller, animator, now, it seems, finally went under the knife and into the standardization tables. In short, humanity: the machines still won.

The new low-budget (just 25 miserable millions of dollars against, for example, 180 million recent breakthrough WALL-I) cartoon "Fly to the Moon" is proof of this. I have nothing against Belgium (on the one hand), but on the other hand, it's really no cartoon. The characters are not particularly interesting, the storyline is average, no innovations, no finds, no superiors - it's almost the same for the same track that we've been on for years now. All muzzles were, all the antics are repeated. What is it - a crisis of animation? The second conclusion is not as basic as the first, but still sad: the stories are over. "Fly to the Moon" personally reminds me painfully of the good old Neznaika and his adventures on the Moon. But only in the role of shorty - flies.

Although, if you look closely, the creators even tried. For example, they invited Buzz Aldrin himself to participate in the project (Edwin Eugene Aldrin - the second person stepping on the Moon, in his honor even called one of the lunar craters), he even voiced himself. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it pleases the graphics (especially the technical details of the ship). There are attempts to parody the episodes from the famous space films, such as Space Odyssey 2001, Apollo 13 and Wife of the Astronaut - these tricks are most likely intended for parents who came with the kids.

In general, we have another cool simple cartoon for children and their parents (although, rather, only for children). Watch, of course, in the cinema - and the result will impress more seriously, and for a child going to the movies is always a holiday.
