Melt butter in a large saucepan, add onion and bacon and fry for 4-5 minutes. Add celery, cabbage and potatoes. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Add broth, bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until vegetables become soft. Add milk and season to taste. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Add extra spices if necessary. Before serving, add cream.
