As you know, any malaise immediately affects our face. And it manifests itself most often in the form of circles and edemas under the eyes. In adults, in the absence of chronic diseases, the main cause is fatigue, which goes without a trace after rest or the use of cosmetic procedures, but the situation with children is different. Determine the cause of the onset of swelling of the lower eyelid in the child is difficult, but the observed symptoms do not always indicate health problems.
Causes of swelling under the eyes in children
In some cases, edema of the eyelids can be a consequence of all sorts of diseases. These can be pathologies of the kidneys, urinary tract, liver, vegetative-vascular dystonia, metabolic disorders, sinus inflammation, adenoids, conjunctivitis.
But swelling under the eyes of the child does not always indicate the presence of diseases. Often they appear after prolonged crying, with inflammation of the mucous eyes, as well as with normal allergies. Swelling under the eyes in infants can be associated with teething.
One of the most common causes of swelling under the eyes is a fluid retention in the body, which accumulates in the tissues. This is a consequence of poor kidney function or the presence of inflammatory processes in the genitourinary system. In this case, except for the face, edema in the child can be observed on other parts of the body, covering the entire body.
The next reason can be called a genetic predisposition. In the event that close relatives have "bags" under their eyes, their presence in your child is only a heredity, which can be manifested already in the early or teenage years.
In addition, the swelling of the lower eyelid can be caused by a violation of sleep. But this question is as important for health as full-fledged food and stay in the open air.
Very often the eyelids swell when the child is overworked, especially after a long game at the computer, or watching TV or reading a book.
It is very responsible to treat the problem and contact the doctor in a timely manner if:
- Swelling under the eyes, in conjunction with the swelling of the fontanelles, severe anxiety and crying of the child, may be a consequence of increased intracranial pressure.
- Swelling under the eyes appeared suddenly, lacrimation and reddening of the eyes, mucous discharge from the nose, the child behaves restlessly. Such signs may be symptoms of allergy (angioedema).
- Swelling under the eyes of a child is accompanied by headache, fever, pain in the lumbar region, urination disrupted, or the presence of blood in the urine. In this case, the cause may be a disease of the kidneys and urinary tract.
- Arising regularly and not taking a long time edema.
How to help?
To save the child from such an unpleasant phenomenon, treat with special attention to his lifestyle. Provide him with a proper rest, long sleep, daily walks in the open air, minimize the stay at the computer and TV. Take care that the ration was saturated with fresh vegetables and fruits, control the amount of salt consumed.
