The child dreams of terrible dreams

Children often have terrible dreams. Most of them are forgotten and go into oblivion at dawn. But some dreams have a very strong emotional impact on the child's psyche. The child remembers the events and objects that frighten him and brings memories of them and, accordingly, his fears into the real world. It can be a variety of objects, actions, creatures. These are terrible dragons and cruel bandits. Sometimes a child is afraid of his own cruelty in a dream: he kills someone or harms the health of the participants in his sleep. All this is postponed in the memory of the child and continues to frighten him not only in a dream, but also in reality.

The natural desire of parents, who learned that their child has terrible dreams, is a desire to help, stop the series of nightmares and ensure your baby peace. The main thing is to do this with understanding - gradually and carefully eradicating the causes of these dreams, rather than trying to take them "in a snare", using the improvised "spiritual" literature.

Modern psychology believes that such dreams reflect the deep processes of becoming a child's personality. This is one of the unpleasant, but inevitable and in some ways even useful stages of development. Each such dream is not only the experience of an event in the external world, but also a bright, emotionally colored event in the life of a little man. Equally important for the development of the child is the need to admit the experience of the nightmare, and the very recognition - and the reaction to it of the parents.

There are several levels of perception of sleep. Normally, information is completely processed and the dream is forgotten at the moment of awakening and leaves no emotional traces. The second level is the level of remembering sleep. The nightmare is often pondered, interpreted, experienced anew. This happens when information encoded in the form of a dream is not processed enough. Parents need help - discussion of sleep, story in pictures or role-playing game.

Worst of all, if the sleep so frightened the baby that he woke up. Often, very terrible dreams a child tries to hide. To understand that something is wrong with the parents only through the inexplicable apathy of the child, the appearance of fear of darkness and fear of loneliness in the previously fearless baby. In such a situation, a child is often so emotionally shocked and depressed that parents feel completely helpless. If you do not feel confident in your own abilities - you can offer the child psycho-correction classes with an experienced child psychologist.

It is easier for a child to open up to a stranger, especially if the stories of nightmares are associated with his own cruelty or, on the contrary, irrational fears. The specialist will help the child to live the plot to the end with the entire transformation of images, not giving preference to "good" before "dangerous." A psychologist knows that one should trust what is happening in a dream and support the development of his topic, especially if it is incomprehensible or frightening. After all, in order for emotional relaxation to begin, fear must be experienced. And the adult should encourage the child, help him cope with fear, give him the confidence to act, go to meet the challenge and danger. This is what makes psycho-correction exercises possible.

At the same time, parents should understand that it is not necessary to carry the child to the doctors because of everyone's terrible sleep - you need to learn to do so that the terrible dreams the child does not remember. And for this he simply needs to know that he is loved, understood and accepted as he is.
