The importance of autogenic training for normal body functioning

Autogenic training is a method of psychological influence on one's own organism. Due to self-hypnosis, used in this technique, you can achieve maximum relaxation of muscle tissue. The value of autogenic training for the normal functioning of the body is the ability to purposefully influence its own physical and mental state, manage its organs and systems. How are these effects achieved?

From the point of view of physiology, autogenic training allows controlling the processes of excitation and inhibition, achieving their balancing. With the constant use of this technique, the body's ability to adapt quickly to changing environmental conditions is increased, mental processes are activated, the work of the nervous system is normalized, and memory is improved. Of great importance is autogenic training for removing the fatigue syndrome, restoring the normal emotional state of the organism after the transferred stress, for improving memory and attention. For therapeutic purposes, this technique is used for neuroses and other functional disorders, as well as for normalizing the work of the basic systems of the body and the regulation of metabolic processes.

Autogenous training is available for study and assimilation to almost everyone. Since the importance of this psycho-hygienic technique for the normal functioning of the body is simply invaluable, and for the training itself, no special equipment or simulators is required, then for anyone who wants to learn the methods of autogenic training, it is only a few minutes a day for such exercises. However, even such a short time will be enough for the formation of the ability to properly tension and relax the muscles, concentrate on the chosen object, regulate the emotional state, maintain the normal operation of the autonomic part of the nervous system and thereby monitor the functional state of the internal organs.

The main part of autogenic training is the process of autosuggestion, in which verbal forms are used. Phrases should be pronounced in an imperative tone from the first person singular, ie they should begin approximately like this: "I am calm ... I feel confident ...", etc. In accordance with the rules of autogenic training, in such phrases one should not use the particle "not", that is, instead of the expression "I'm not sick", I need to say "I am healthy", and instead of "I'm not worried at all" it is better to say "I am absolutely calm". And these expressions must be pronounced in a certain order. At the beginning of the exercise, phrases should be pronounced to relax and relax, then phrases that purposefully influence the body and help achieve the basic psychotherapeutic tasks of the session, and when the exercise is completed, expressions that must relax and have a mobilizing effect. With the proper execution of the technique, a person falls into a state of light half-daemon, during which a self-help self-hypnosis takes place, which helps maintain normal body functioning.

It is established that with different types of emotional state, there is an increased tension of one or another group of muscles. For example, if the mood is bad, there is an increased tension in the muscles of the respiratory system, and with fear, the tension of the facial muscles increases. Therefore, reaching during the autogenic training of relaxation of a certain musculature, one can thereby ensure the normal functioning of the organism and change for the better its psychological state. Thus, on the basis of the connection between muscle groups and the emotional state of the body, it is possible to significantly reduce the neuro-emotional overstrain, reduce fatigue and thereby promote the speedy restoration of the required level of efficiency.

Despite the seeming simplicity of autologous training and its huge positive value for the normal functioning of the body, there are still some difficulties in using this technique. For example, for children under 12 years of age, the use of autogenous training is often ineffective, because in this age period there is not yet a sufficiently conscious attitude toward one's own personality. Older people may also have some difficulties in trying to master this psycho-hygienic technique, since with age, the tone of the striated muscles is steadily decreasing and controlling the relaxation of the muscles becomes much more difficult.
