Tonic for hair: especially staining at home

Tonic for hair - a dye, which gives hair a certain shade for a period of 1 to 3 weeks. Tonic is ideal for those who are just starting to experiment with color and do not hurry with cardinal metamorphosis. About how to properly use this tool for staining at home and will be discussed further.

Tonic for hair: mechanism of action

To begin with, we note that using the hair tonic, you can change the hue only within the original level of the color depth. Therefore, reincarnated from a burning brunette in a blond blonde, using a tonic, will not work.

Decide whether to tint or choose a different way to change hair color, it becomes easier when there is an understanding of the essence of this procedure. To begin with, the hair shaft consists of a cuticle and a cortex. Hair tonics belong to the class of semi-permanent surface-effect dyes and work only in cuticle layers. This explains so short a color effect.

If you look at the process of toning under a microscope, it looks like this: the molecules of the coloring matter fall under the scales of the cuticle and settle there. Penetration into the deeper layers of the cortex does not occur, because after 3-6 shampooing the shampoo displaces molecules of the coloring material from under the scales and the color is washed out.

Despite the simplicity of the procedure, how to properly color the head with a tonic, so that the strands have the right shade, not everyone knows. Some, for example, without reading the instructions, apply highly concentrated toning funds to the decolorized hair directly from the vial and receive as a result a pearl shade not declared by the manufacturer, but saturated blue.

Attention! Tonics, intended for blondes, must be diluted! Water, balm or special means - depends on the brand of the tinting agent and the features of its use.

How to properly tonic at home

Special skills, in order to use a hair tonic is not necessary. For self-coloring the house will need:

Staining stages:

  1. Prewash your head with a deep cleaning shampoo. It will help lift the cuticle scales, facilitating the penetration of dye molecules. You can apply the tonic to both dry and damp hair.

  2. Prepare the coloring composition: 1 part of the tonic is mixed with 3 parts of hair balm. The proportions can be changed depending on the desired result. For example, to obtain delicate pastel shades, you need to increase the amount of balm. Accordingly, for a bright saturated color, you need to mix the ingredients in a ratio of 1: 1.

  3. Thoroughly mix the composition into a homogeneous mass.

  4. Begin applying the tonic from the parietal zone, gradually moving to the tips.

  5. Soak the tonic on your hair for 20-30 minutes. After the time has elapsed, wash it off with warm water without shampoo. For better color fastening, you can rinse the hair with acetic solution - 1 liter of water 1 tbsp. natural apple cider vinegar.
